Bishop Camillus Maes' Life of Father Charles Nerinckx (1761‑1824) is not a history, but a devotional biography of its subject, a Belgian pioneer priest of Kentucky, founder of several churches in the Bardstown area, as well as of the Order of the Sisters of Loretto whose mother-house is still there.
