The Phlebotomist is responsible for the proper collection of blood specimens to support accurate laboratory testing for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. POSITION SUMMARY: The Outpatient Phlebotomist is responsible for collection of blood samples with standard venipuncture and microtainer techniques for all age groups. Receives laboratory specimens and processes samples for Laboratory testing, performs clerical and client services functions in the Laboratory; draw station sites and travel to additional sites when needed. Performs standard screens and transfer all calls, take complete messages, place calls as directed. Explain credit policy, indicate chart location, explain credit policy to new patients, refer bad credit or overdue account to credit department. Schedule all appointments at physician/nurse direction. Verify patient information, notify nurse of patient arrival, note time of arrival on fee ticket.
