1945

José Alencar's Bootstrap Capitalism: 1945-92

1949

In 1949, at the age of 18, he borrowed money from his older brother Geraldo to open A Queimadeira, a fabric shop in Caratinga, Minas Gerais.

1967

Companhia de Tecidos Norte de Minas – COTEMINAS or CTNM was founded in 1967.

1975

Its first spinning and fabrics factory, located in Montes Claros, MG, started its operation in 1975, and expanded its operational capacity, through the acquisition of the operating unit of Natal, RN, in the 80s.

1976

The company's first mill, opened in 1976, was financed with funds from the state government.

1992

The enterprise became a publicly owned company in 1992, when it collected $14 million for shares sold.

1992 Coteminas becomes a publicly owned and traded company.

1995

Before the end of 1995 Josué Christiano obtained BRL 60 million (about $62 million) from investors for a new Wentex factory to be built in Campina Grande to produce more than 82 million T-shirts and 24,000 metric tons of knitwear per year.

1999

The devaluation of Brazil's unit of currency, the real, in early 1999 made Coteminas's products cheaper abroad and gave impetus to an effort to grow by exporting, although initially exports formed only a small part of its revenues.

2001

2001 Coteminas signs a pact to make bedding and bath products for Springs Industries Inc.

2002

2002 The founder of Coteminas is elected vice-president of Brazil.

2003

In 2003 Coteminas's factories accounted for one-eighth of Brazil's consumption of natural fibers.

2004

In 2004 the company acquired a relevant stake in COMPANHIA TECIDOS SANTANENSE, and since that date the company has included this subsidiary in its consolidated balance sheets.

2005

2005 Coteminas and Springs sign a pact to create the world's largest home-textiles producer.

2007

As of July 27, 2007, Springs Global’s shares began to be traded on the Novo Mercado segment of BM&FBOVESPA S.A. – Stock, Commodities and Futures Exchange.

2009

As of 2009, Springs Global began to operate directly in the retail single-brand bed, bath and table in Brazil, through the acquisition of the MMartan chain of stores.

2011

In 2011, Artex stores were launched.

2018

At the end of 2018, the subsidiary Springs Global entered into an agreement with Keeco, an American home fashion products company, to combine operations in North America.

2019

The transaction was completed in mid-March 2019, when indirect subsidiary Springs US received $ 90 million in cash and $ 36 million in shares of the combined company, Keeco Holdings, LLC, representing a 17.5% stake in its share capital.
