Job Position: Production Shift Lead Job Location: West Chicago, IL Reports To: Production Supervisor Pay Range: $20-$30 Job Summary: Responsible for assisting shift supervision in the safe, efficient operation of the cups department. The Shift Lead is a critical team member. Their ability to execute and engage team members is critical to the success of the shift. The use of Standard Work will support them in the initiative. The Shift Lead takes direction from the Shift Supervisor and together along with the Lead PEO work in tandem in managing the shift. Lead Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the shift supervisor, the shift lead monitors the entire production floor, ensuring the smooth operation of the shift. The shift lead drives safety by confirming all shift personnel are following safety and GMP guidelines.
Checks material supplies (boxes, bags, tape, etc.) at the start of the shift. Assures required materials and supplies are requested and available at beginning of shift. Communicates directly with Material Handlers for materials needs.
Following Standard Work, oversees quality checks, both White Cup and Print, checks correct sleeve counts, correct boxes and/or labels, etc at their designated time.
Ensures the entire shift is following break schedule and reports to supervisor any inconsistencies.
Helps identify and determine causes for quality problems, equipment problems, and failure to meet production standards, communicates with maintenance personnel or shift supervisor.
Takes time at least once per shift to coach/mentor team members.
Oversee new employees on shifts in work assignments. Provide assistance in training all new (and temporary) employees in accordance with established training manual. Make time each day to ensure new Team members are being attended to and being treated respectfully.
Always use and follow Standard Work.
Be able to run the shift if needed without the support of the supervisor.
Oversees and ensures good housekeeping and good sanitation practices are being maintained.
Ensures all necessary paperwork is maintained and turned in on a timely manner can without issue.
Maintains good communication with shift Supervisor on production, quality and equipment problems as it relates to production floor.
Provides supervisor with feedback regarding employee relations issues.
Shift Lead or designate oversees resources for the efficient operation of the Cup packing area including but not limited to packer assignments, coverage for absences & rest periods, overtime requests, and using the break schedule.
Must be able to perform all responsibilities of an Inspector/Packer as the Shift Lead may be assigned lines as needed.
Performs additional assignments and/or special projects that may require physical activity beyond those required functions of the job.
Follows and supports good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all non-compliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
Assists the shift Supervisor with running the shift and performs other duties as assigned

Job Description
* Follows all safety rules and contributes to a safe work environment.
* Follows established manufacturing procedures under assigned department which may include but is not limited to:
* Makes sure all associates are doing their jobs correctly.
* Moves associates to areas that need help.
* Oversees the training of new associates.
* Initiates cross training for all associates.
* Responsible for variance reporting - reporting the positives and negatives of each shift and making the necessary adjustments to the negatives.
* Evaluates associates.
* Makes sure all requirements set by company are being followed.
* Participates and contributes to a Work Team environment and follows quality control checks.
* Contributes to meeting Bertch manufacturing schedule.
* Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Qualifications
Required Education, Training or Experience
* Must be fully trained and able to perform the required job tasks in the assigned department.
* Minimum of 18 months of related experience is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibilities
* Directly supervises approximately 15-20 employees in the respective department.
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
* Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
The regular schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 6am -4:30pm. Overtime hours vary, and are worked on Friday's. All overtime hours will be communicated to the Shift Lead by upper management.

Job Description
