Construction Sciences company history timeline

1993

The first two students were admitted to the program in the Fall of 1993.

Starting with the company in 1993, Grant holds decades of construction materials testing knowledge including soils, aggregates & concrete.

2002

Established in 2002 as a 50-50 JV between Cardno and AECOM, T2 Utility Engineers Incorporated (T2ue) is Canada’s leading Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) company.

2004

The program joined the School of Architecture, Department of Art, and Interior Design Program in the College of Architecture, Art and Design – which was established in 2004.

2006

The Mississippi State University Building Construction Science (BCS) degree program was established by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of the Institutions of Higher Learning (IHL) in 2006.

2007

By Fall 2007 the total enrollment in the Building Science Program was approximately 600.

The first class of 14 students was admitted in fall 2007.

2008

In the Fall of 2008, Doctor Murphy stepped down as School Head and was replaced by Doctor Richard Burt.

2009

In the Spring of 2009, the school worked with the US Army Corps of Engineers to develop a custom Executive Master of Building Construction program for engineering professionals at Fort Benning, Ga.

2010

The methodology and the results of the curriculum review were presented to the Baccalaureate Degree Caucus at the annual ACCE meeting and a paper was also presented at the 2010 ASC annual conference.

2011

M&A Activity 2011: Humphreys Reynolds Perkins, Chenoweth Environmental Planning & Landscape Architecture (CEPLA), TEC, Geotech Solutions, Lane Piper Pty Ltd, Roadtest.

2012

Building Science students began taking classes in the new curriculum in the Summer of 2012.

By 2012, Cardno had experienced a period of accelerated growth, particularly in the United States, thanks to the acquisition of a number of engineering and environmental consulting businesses.

2013

In the Fall of 2013, Mike Hosey was hired as the manager of the Field Lab with a 50% teaching appointment.

M&A Activity 2013: Haynes Whaley Associates, Geotech Material Testing Services Pty Ltd.

2017

In 2017 T2ue became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cardno.

2018

In 2018 the school also renovated its former demonstration area to provide space for a construction visualization lab with a 27 screen video wall and 3 competition team rooms.

M&A Activity 2018: SureSearch, David Douglas Associates, Inc. (DDAI), Trilab, TGM Group, and Raba Kistner Inc.

2019

The Field Lab went through a major renovation during 2019 thanks to a major gift from Robins & Morton.

In 2019, Cardno demerged its quality, testing and measurement business (Intega) from its consulting business (Cardno).
