The first Corpus Christi Country Club, a nine-hole design by Fred McLeod was built on North Beach and opened in 1909.
In 1921, several businessmen began a membership drive and quickly reached the 100 members needed to get plans off the ground.

The course expanded to 18 holes by 1938.
