About the Role: The Diesel Mechanic's primary responsibilities are to maintain, repair, and overhaul all types of vehicles and equipment, including semi-tractors, trailers, automobiles, etc., for in-facility and outside delivery purposes. This position is vital to the success of our business, as it is the mechanic's role to inspect and test equipment at prescribed intervals of time and usage, or upon malfunction or breakdown. The mechanic will disassemble and replace worn or broken parts, while fitting and adjusting new or repaired parts. The mechanic will have the ability to shift focus from project work to unanticipated, high priority needs and then return focus to project work.
* Maintain equipment to standards set by Federal Motor Carrier & DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
* DOT Annual Inspection certified preferred
* Air brake certified preferred
* Test drives repaired equipment.
* Uses hoist, wrenches, gauges, drills or grinders, or other specialized auto mechanic tools and equipment.
* Performs limited bodywork and repainting on vehicles after a breakdown or accident.
* Fuels, oils, and greases motor vehicles; changes filters.
* Record all work and parts used in web based records system
* Completes all necessary paperwork.
* Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
* May drive facility tow truck to retrieve broken-down vehicles away from facility.
* You are happy to work a 2nd or 3rd shift schedule with some weekends.
* Basic knowledge of hydraulics preferred.
* Work well with drivers and other mechanics in a Team-oriented environment.
* Welding/fabrication experience preferred.
Who You Are:
* Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
* Certified Diesel Mechanic or 3 to 5 years hands on experience
* Has minimum tools for heavy truck repair, list will be provided.
* Frequently works in a crouched position or on back lying on mechanic's dolly beneath motor vehicle equipment; subjected to dust, dirt, and grease conditions
* Work well on a team dedicated to proper fleet maintenance
* Valid state driver's license
* Class A CDL (preferred)
* Can work as part of a team as well as alone.

Qualifications
Required Experience or Training: The candidate must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with a minimum of two years of experience in building and grounds maintenance. Desired Experience or Training: Preferred qualifications include post-secondary training related to general construction and maintenance. The House Mechanic will perform a wide variety of duties and tasks associated with the mechanical (millwright) discipline.
