Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in the plant. This may consist of inspecting, greasing, cleaning or repairing production equipment to insure uninterrupted production capability. Checklists may be provided for the minimum amount of preventative maintenance to be performed. * Operate appropriate hand and power tools for performing maintenance: Efficiently use wrenches, pliers, socket sets, screwdrivers, punches, hammer, and other hand tools. Operate drills, drill press, and grinders safely and efficiently. * Responsible for notifying the designated person to order the parts needed for maintenance: Identify parts needed to repair equipment. For example, sprockets for conveyor or belt size and length needed for conveyor. Must be able to look up parts in machine manuals and identify what is needed for the repair. * Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times, including an organized parts room. Maintenance personnel will be designated a workbench with tools and will be responsible for the work area and the tools. OUR TECHNICIANS FOR THIS POSITION CAN MAKE: * $27.00 - $28.69per hour based on experience SCHEDULES AVAILABLE: 2nd or 3rd shift Monday through Friday BENEFITS: * Union pension plan * Competitive pay * Paid vacation and holidays* * Career growth opportunities - we promote from within! * Comprehensive healthcare benefits * Service recognition and employee rewards * Uniforms provided * Work for dairy farm families JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Perform maintenance and/or repairs (planned, unplanned, emergency) on production, processing, and packaging equipment as well as utility related equipment or systems, following all safety procedures * Perform preventative maintenance; perform routine inspections of equipment for assessment of reliability and performance * Read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service * Support the installation of new equipment * Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime * Complete work orders in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality standards * Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in performing duties * Maintain communication with other departments, management, and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns that may restrict the efficiency of production * Ensure all repairs are documented. Complete all paperwork clearly, legibly, and accurately with required information. Document all required information in accordance with standard operations procedures * Stay up to date on new products, equipment, technology and techniques * Utilizing continuous improvement mindset, assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes * Exhibit the ability to anticipate parts requirements for the tasks, follow proper purchasing procedures, and acquire parts ahead of anticipated task performance * Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues * Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements * The requirements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employee, but is not a complete list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. Other duties may be assigned as required * varies by company and governing CBAs * High school diploma or GED preferred * Three years of experience required in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility * Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings including drug, background and criminal checks * Minimum one year experience in a maintenance role within a manufacturing facility, preferably food and beverage industry * Minimum one year experience with one or more technical experiences: Electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, computer-controlled equipment, PLC and/or HVAC * Minimum one year experience with a variety of equipment including lubricating, cleaning, material handling, motor control, relay control, process control and packaging equipment * Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals * Must be able to handle basic hand tools * Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend required for virtually the entire shift; occasionally required to climb or balance * Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally * Must be able to work in a cold, wet environment with moderate to high noise volume * May experience some exposure to fumes airborne particles, chemicals or allergens * Must be willing to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends, and holiday An Equal Opportunity Employer Salary: $27.69 - $28.69
