Workflow and Data Accuracy Criteria C: Completes charge sheet accurately ensuring the CPT4 code matches the exam performed. Workflow and Data Accuracy Criteria D: Starts and completes examination in ADS workflow and records required information on log sheets. 3. Image Acquisition Criteria A: Selects required transducer as well as positions patients correctly for optimal imaging. Image Acquisition Criteria B: Proficient in scanning established US protocols. Image Acquisition Criteria C: Applies knowledge of US physics. (i.e. doppler, color flow, 2D scanning, harmonics and instrumentation) Image Acquisition Criteria D: Monitors and communicates with the patient throughout the exam. 4. Applied Technical Knowledge Criteria A: Able to recognize and demonstrate skills of differentiating normal and abnormal sonographic anatomy. Applied Technical Knowledge Criteria B: Uses independent judgment in recognizing the need to extend the scope of the procedure according to the diagnostic findings. Applied Technical Knowledge Criteria C: Correct annotation of anatomy, scanning plane and region of interest. Applied Technical Knowledge Criteria D: Shows determination and resourcefullness in imaging challenging or new exams. 5. Exam Completion Criteria A: Evaluates sonographic images for technical quality and repeats images as necessary. Exam Completion Criteria B: Ensures prior exams and reports are available for comparison. Exam Completion Criteria C: Provides an accurate oral or written summary of the technical findings to the physician for medical diagnosis. Exam Completion Criteria D: Scans accompanying paperwork then verifies images in PACS. 6. Magview Entry and Patient Tracking Criteria A: Selects correct patient and updates necessary clinical history. Magview Entry and Patient Tracking Criteria B: Enters pertinent notes relating to present exam and indicates the reason for exam/location of concern. Magview Entry and Patient Tracking Criteria C: Indicates correct initials of the Sonographer performing the exam. Magview Entry and Patient Tracking Criteria D: Resolves prior examinations accurately. 7. Infection Control Criteria A: Follows universal precautions including the use of gloves, gowns and masks as appropriate. Infection Control Criteria B: Cleans and disinfects between each patient and can perform/document high level disinfection appropriately. Infection Control Criteria C: Disposes of needles and syringes in designated sharps containers, comprehends safe fill levels and seals containers appropriately for pick-up. Infection Control Criteria D: Keeps work area, waiting rooms and dressing rooms clean and tidy and stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis. 8. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria A: Able to recognize specific psychological (ie. anxiety) and/or physical needs of patients and determine when further assistance is needed. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria B: Promptly responds to situations which require a timely response and documents relevant information on incident forms. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria C: Able to locate and use all necessary emergency equipment (code cart, oxygen, blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, etc). Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria D: Able to initiate emergency response policy. 9. Miscellaneous Responsibilities Criteria A: Assists Radiologist in interventional procedures such as US Guided Breast Biopsy. Miscellaneous Responsibilities Criteria B: Initiates equipment service requests, updates service logbook and notifies supervisor as necessary.     Provide assistance to Perinatologist in gathering data, operate diagnostic ultrasound equipment, and obtain diagnostic quality images on the female pelvic organs, uterus and fetus. Maintains all necessary supplies and equipment for the Antenatal Diagnostic Testing Unit. Responsibilities: 1. Perinatal ultrasounds Criteria A: Maintain full working knowledge of ultrasound techniques and anatomy in obstetrical & gynecological patients. Perinatal ultrasounds Criteria B: Perform initial evaluation of fetal anatomy, biometric measurements and fetal activity. 2. Assist Perinatologist with scanning of patient Criteria A: Explain procedure to patient and significant other. Assist Perinatologist with scanning of patient Criteria B: Demonstrate normal anatomy and relay findings to doctor. Assist Perinatologist with scanning of patient Criteria C: Discuss results of exam with patient Assist Perinatologist with scanning of patient Criteria D: Interpret findings and present to doctor. 3. Assist Perinatologist with amniocentesis Criteria A: Explain procedure to the patient, ensure that appropriate forms are filled out. Assist Perinatologist with amniocentesis Criteria B: Set up equipment needed for the procedure. Assist Perinatologist with amniocentesis Criteria C: Assist needle insertion with ultrasound guidance. Assist Perinatologist with amniocentesis Criteria D: Explain post amnio restrictions to patient. 4. Evaluate and maintain equipment and materials needed for procedures. Criteria A: Maintain inventory of supplies, linens and intrument trays needed to efficiently provide ultrasounds, amniocentesis and gyn examinations 5. Continuing Education Criteria A: Attend continuing education programs and participate in professional organizations. Continuing Education Criteria B: Maintain and update educational records Continuing Education Criteria C: Maintain teaching tapes for ultrasound cases. Continuing Education Criteria D: Assist in orientation and training of radiology residents 6. Performs other duties as assigned. 7. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT Other Information: Required: Graduate of an accredited ultrasound program. Two to three years experience in performing ultrasound preferred, with at least one year experience in OB ultrasound preferred. Minimum Experience: two years American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) registration within 1 year required. Working Conditions: Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Some occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
