About this role

Responsibilities

* Identify and resolve performance issues. Provide suggestions to optimize queries, indexes, and database schemas to enhance database performance.
* Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies. Perform regular database backups and restore operations as needed.
* Provide technical support for database-related issues. Troubleshoot and resolve database problems in a timely manner.
* Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to design and implement database solutions that meet business needs.
* Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are preferred.
* Minimum of 10 years of experience as a SQL Server DBA or Database Engineer.
* Proficient in SQL Server 2016/2019/2022.
* Experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Profiler, and other related tools.
* Strong understanding of T-SQL, stored procedures, and triggers.
* Knowledge of database design, indexing, and query optimization.
* Experience with SQL Server Always On, Replication, and High Availability solutions.
* Solid working knowledge of Linux operating systems, including administration and troubleshooting of database servers running on Linux.
* Proven programming and scripting skills (Python, PowerShell).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Familiarity with storing Fixed Income data, especially mortgages.
* Knowledge of other database systems (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL).
* Familiarity with ODBC, DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
