Assist dentists and hygienists in chairside procedures routinely performed in general dental practice
Prepare and set up instruments, materials, and equipment for each procedure
Sterilize instruments and handpieces; perform cleaning and routine maintenance of equipment and work areas
Perform reception duties including scheduling/rescheduling patients, recording demographic and medical information, greeting and seating patients
Submit pre-authorizations for contracted dental insurances and record data in patient charts
Coordinate dental case pickups and deliveries with contracted dental labs
Identify related medical or social problems and discuss with the dentist
Establish and maintain effective communication with patients and coworkers; follow oral and written instructions
Maintain positive working relationships with patients and staff; motivate patients toward care compliance
Identify supply needs and assist with ordering dental materials and equipment
Coordinate maintenance and service requests with dental service companies
Travel with the dental bus to local schools; return to clinic to assist on the floor as needed
Travel to cover different TFHC locations when required
Work weekends and holidays as scheduled
Perform other duties as assigned by the CDO or dentist
Qualifications
Graduate of a recognized technical school with an approved Dental Assistants Program
Florida Certification for Expanded Functions required
High school diploma or GED required
Certificate in Dental Radiology required
Current CPR certification required
Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) certificate required
Open to new graduates (must have completed externship in person)

Job Description
DENTAL ASSISTANT- LEAD
FLSA:
NON-EXEMPT
Duties/Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Director of Dental Operations to maintain efficient clinic workflow and staff coverage.
Coordinate chairside schedules and monitor patient flow, including emergency walk-ins.
Oversee sterilization processes and ensure clinic logs are completed accurately.
Manage inventory control and order supplies for the clinic.
Communicate with the Dental Logistics Coordinator regarding equipment maintenance and repairs.
Assist the dentist during examinations and procedures by preparing instruments and materials, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment per infection control protocols.
Manage patient records, schedule appointments, and handle billing and insurance tasks.
Maintain a clean, organized work environment with well-stocked supplies.
Adapt to various roles, including front office duties and assisting with dental radiographs.
Collaborate with the dental team to optimize workflow and patient care.
Travel to different practice locations as needed for staffing support.
Provide chairside assistance in fourhanded dentistry and perform dental radiograph procedures.
Clean and sterilize dental instruments and maintain treatment areas.
Conduct supply inventories and ensure equipment operates safely through preventative maintenance.
Perform laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models and fabricating custom trays.
Train dental assistants on clinical processes and procedures for efficiency.
Adhere to SCHC policies, including OSHA standards, HIPAA compliance, and proper PPE use.
Manage inventory and supplies in the sedation room (where applicable).
Train staff on the use and maintenance of the Solea Laser and CBCT (where applicable).
Provide input for annual employee evaluations.
Perform additional tasks as needed to support the centers.

Must be able to effectively manage workflow and maintain high-quality standards in environments where staffing levels may be below ideal, demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with the team under pressure.
Ability to use office equipment, including computers, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, calculators, and more.
Ability to take dental radiographs and perform related tasks.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and related software.
Education and Experience:
Dental Assistant Diploma from an accredited dental assisting program is preferred.
At least two years related experience preferred.
BLS within three months of hire is required.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods while assisting during dental procedures and moving around the dental office.
Strong hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills to handle dental instruments and perform precise tasks, such as taking impressions and applying sealants.
Ability to lift and carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, including dental materials and patient-related items.
Ability to bend, stoop, and squat to assist with patient care and to maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Must be able to travel to various center locations as required.
