We provide innovative and compassionate services to individuals struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs. Addictions nursing is the nursing specialty committed to the prevention, intervention, treatment, and management of addictive disorders. Nurses must possess compassion, empathy, understanding and support to patients and their families in a difficult time. RN Per Diem- Flexible Schedules Available Regular Salary: $40.00-$50.00/Hr Job Specific Responsibilities and Functions: * Under the supervision and direction of the Medical Director, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing triage services which consist of an evaluation and assessment of medical and psychiatric status and its relationship for the need of withdrawal management. * The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care. * The RN assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team. * Utilize the clinical opioid withdrawal scale (COWS) and/or the clinical institute withdrawal assessment (CIWA) for alcohol to assess patient for signs & symptoms of withdrawal. Identifies and documents observations and assessment of the patient's needs for immediate nursing action and medication intervention. * Dispense medication as per physician orders and utilizing the nursing process, and maintain accurate records, including seeking clarification of the physicians orders that are unclear or inappropriate. * Monitor labs and notify provider of abnormal and critical results * Follow the physicians written orders and assist with clients physical examinations, medical care and/or procedures, and client intakes as needed * Prepare and maintain adequate medical and other records * Checks to ensure that emergency equipment is on hand and maintain inventory documentation * Conduct nursing education and wellness groups to clients as needed * Responsible for completing and reviewing Beginning and End of Shift Controlled Substance Count with oncoming and outgoing staff and ensures staff compliance with department policy & procedures * Increase knowledge of treatment and client issues by attending and participating in staff development in-service sessions * Utilize critical thinking skills, prioritize care and apply clinical guidelines and best practices * Maintain nursing license current as well as American Heart CPR/First Aid certification * Document and gives/receives report at the beginning and end of shift when indicated * Participate in quality improvement projects * Communicates relevant patient care information with treatment team in a timely fashion * Initiates appropriate referrals to other departments, services and/or outside agencies for patient care. Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is one of the largest Catholic Charities Agencies providing care for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the United States. We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Group Homes. Registered Nurse (RN) (Per Diem) HOURS: This is a per diem position. Weekdays 8:30am-4:30pm, however, flexibility is required in order to meet the needs of the programs and of the agency. This position requires travel between the agencys main office, group homes, day program center and within the community. JOB SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the registered nurse is to oversee the provision of medical care to the clients of DPD to ensure that they receive the highest quality of care and to educate staff to understand individual medical needs to work effectively with each resident. The nurse will insure effective implementation of health promotion and prevention practices, management of acute and chronic illnesses, and attainment of optimal levels of functioning and/or support of the client and significant others. The nurse will cooperate with agency's administration and/or Division and DHS staff in any inspection or investigation. QUALIFICATIONS: * Degree in Nursing, NJ State Nursing License. * Minimum two years in successful nursing practice, certified American Red Cross FA and CPR trainer preferred. * Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communication and interpersonal relationships with members of the interdisciplinary team, clients, families, visitors and staff. * Previous experience treating people with developmental disabilities preferred. * Must have a driver's license, which is valid in the State of New Jersey. This position requires the use of agency vehicles when traveling to various locations to conduct agency business. * Knowledge of and proficiency with computer programs is required. * The Registered Nurse must have a physical exam including a mantoux and drug test prior to employment. * Must meet fingerprint and drug test requirements.
