Job Description:
The primary responsibility of this Technician position is assisting in the development of Right of Way maps in the Property Office as directed by the Professional Land Surveyor.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Research of highway ROW, and private boundary plans, deeds, layouts, and other pertinent town or state documents;
CADD drafting of moderately complex existing condition plans (right of way and property), and
Determining the property rights needed to complete final right of way mapping under the guidance of senior employees and PLS.
The successful candidate will have the ability to:
Understand and calculate survey mathematics,
Draft plans in CADD,
Positively interact with project managers, senior property officers, legal staff, and
Meet project deadlines
Preference will be given to candidates with boundary, survey or comparable engineering background.
To be minimally qualified for this position candidates must provide evidence of the following experience:
Five (5) years of experience in engineering -OR- an Associate Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and three (3) years of experience in engineering -OR- a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related technical field and one (1) year of experience in engineering. Position Snapshot/A Day in the Life: The EngineeringTechnician II performs routine drafting and technical engineering work in support of municipal infrastructure projects. Essential Functions
EngineeringTechnician II -This is the full journey level in the EngineeringTechnician series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the EngineeringTechnician I By the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including the moderately complex duties of drafting, office and field engineering work. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is flexibly staffed and is normally filled by advancement from the I level, or when filled from the outside, requires previous work experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Incumbent must have the ability to:
Review and process tract maps, parcel maps, of line adjustments, grants of easement, and street right-of-ways for recordation.
Verify fulfillment of conditions of approval for new subdivisions; perform on-site inspections to verify survey monuments related to parcel maps and lot line adjustments.
Prepare and draft technical engineering plans for construction of streets, alleys, storm drains, water lines, and other public improvements.
Provide public assistance at counter and over the telephone.
Prepare quantity and cost estimates for engineering projects.
Maintain a variety of maps and records including tract maps, parcel maps, lot line adjustments, easements, street and address changes.
Review engineering plans to determine appropriate layout of construction projects.
Perform on-site inspections to obtain information; determine angles and set grade stakes, hubs, turning points and benchmarks using appropriate surveying techniques; locate and measure boundary lines, right-of-ways, and land grades.
Make and check mathematical calculations related to surveying, drafting and basic engineering.
Maintain accurate survey records in the form of field notes and sketches.
Participate in a variety of engineering design and planning work related to municipal engineering projects.
Answer questions and provide information to the public concerning engineering activities.
Assist in development and maintenance of the record keeping and filing systems.

We are currently seeking a Revenue Mechanical Technician to perform preventive maintenance and routine repair of all revenue collection equipment on Metro Transit buses. Provides preventive maintenance and repair of all revenue collection equipment on buses (fare boxes) and at garages (receivers), including troubleshooting, calibration, removal, and installation of all revenue collection equipment and components.

What you would do in this job
Preventive Maintenance:
Perform timely preventative maintenance on all fareboxes and auxiliary parts and components, which includes but not limited to the Ticket Reading/issuance Machine (TRiM) unit, Bill Transport, Coin Validator, Bill Validator, Cash Box, Garage vaults and bins.
Repair Malfunctioning Fareboxes, Vaults and bins:
Clean, repair, and/or replace defective farebox parts and components.
Process and forward defective parts that cannot be repaired at the garage to OSC for repair.
Remove jammed bills, coins, and pre-paid fare media cards from farebox and Ticket Reading/issuance Machine (TRiM) units and properly process to account for collected transit fares.
Identify and replace worn-out consumable equipment such as belts, o-rings, springs, gears, etc.
Perform non-routine repair including troubleshooting, calibration, and removal and installation of all revenue collection equipment and components.
Install Go-To card readers on buses and service or replace malfunctioning units.
Paperwork/Documentation and Security:
Complete "E-Key_White Jumper_Probe-Report" for use of electronic keys and/or probe on fareboxes.
Complete farebox removal and installation sheets and notify the Supervisor to update the records.
Maintain a secure work environment when removing, installing or repairing fareboxes.
Complete farebox maintenance report for any activity performed, e.g., repair, installation, removal, etc.
Complete all maintenance reports, and other documentation, both manually and computerized.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of work experience (in repairing electronic or mechanical equipment) and completed education (degree field of study in electronics or mechanical repair or closely related field (such as automated systems and robotics, electromechanical technology; or other industrial arts program that includes preparation in mechanics, engineering and technology).
High school diploma/GED with one (1) year of experience.
Associate degree or vocational school or certificate program with some familiarity of repairing electronic or mechanical equipment.

To perform professional and technical engineering work in an assigned area such as plan and development review, contract administration and design; and to provide technical staff assistance to higher level engineering staff.
Position Snapshot/A Day in the Life:
This Associate Engineer position will be within the Traffic Division of the Public Works/Engineering Department. With a team of 11 (7 of whom are primarily responsible for signal operations and maintenance), we are responsible for overseeing the City's transportation system, including supporting Capital Improvements Projects, Land Development projects, Street Maintenance, Planning, and others.
Under the direction of a Senior Engineer or City Traffic Engineer, you will primarily be responsible for reviewing private development and capital improvement project related traffic studies, identifying impacts and deficiencies, and determining the most appropriate improvements and design features needed. Other day-to-day duties will also involve reviewing and preparing signing/striping plans and traffic control plans, investigating and responding to concerns from the general public, and participating in long-range planning activities. You may also be asked to help work on special projects and grant pursuits, preparing staff reports, participating in interagency coordination efforts, preparing RFP's/RFQ's, reviewing and processing proposals/contracts/traffic plans, and conducting various meetings.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This is the journey level class within the Engineering series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Assistant Civil Engineer by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and may be filled by advancement from the Assistant level.
Supervision Received and Exercised: Receives direction from higher level engineering staff and may exercise technical supervision over less experienced staff within the work unit and technical or functional supervision over staff within the Department.
Essential Functions
The incumbent must have the ability to:
Review and check residential and commercial building plans or plans related to structures such as streets, sidewalks, gutters and other off-site construction; check plans for conformance with regulations regarding line, grade, size, elevation and location of structures; check calculations
Maintain records of all plans and contract documents.
Prepare progress reports on projects under construction; maintain records of changes and field notes.
Investigate field problems affecting property owners, contractors and maintenance operations.
Coordinate assigned activities with consultants, engineers, developers, contractors, other city departments and divisions, and with outside agencies.
Develop plans, specifications and other contract documents.
Provide technical and professional engineering support services relative to assigned areas of responsibility.
Prepare special engineering studies and reports; perform special assignments on engineering problems as necessary.
Plan, prepare and design a variety of engineering projects such as roads, bridges, structures and hydraulics.
Calculate the quantity, quality and cost of materials used for various projects.
Review engineering calculations of other engineers or engineeringtechnicians.
Prepare plans and specifications, maps, deeds and legal descriptions.
Review plans for traffic signals, traffic signing, and traffic striping for conformance with City policies and State and Federal requirements.
Plan, prepare, and design a variety of engineering projects, such as traffic signals, traffic striping, and traffic signing.
Review all permits involving work in public streets; review any and all traffic control plans required due to work in streets.
Prepare traffic control plans and requirements.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Perform and other tasks or functions that may be deemed necessary to the daily operations of the employer.

WORKING CONDITIONS:In the performance of daily activities, this position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, and bending; the ability to push, pull, drag and/or lift up to 25 pounds; normal manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination; repetitive hand and wrist movement using a computer keyboard and mouse; corrected vision to normal range; acute hearing; written and oral communication; use of standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, copiers, calculators and facsimiles; frequent contact with other staff and the public; may be exposed to severe weather conditions such as high wind, rain, and other outside conditions.
Experience and Training Guidelines
A combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. The incumbent must have the knowledge of:
Principles and practices of civil engineering.
Methods, materials and techniques used in the construction of public works projects.
Modern developments, current literature and sources of information regarding engineering.
Principles of advanced mathematics and their application to engineering work.
Applicable laws and regulatory codes in assigned area of responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in preparing and reviewing transportation analysis for a range of project scales and being able to interpret the practical implications of the analysis results. They would be familiar with VMT, the current industry trends related to its implementation, and be able to assist the team in managing and updating our Traffic Impact Guidelines. They'll have excellent skills in using Excel and be comfortable working within it to create reliable and flexible tools for day-to-day analysis needs. The Traffic division and the City pursue significant grants and special projects that allow us to grow our infrastructure and capabilities, as well as to implement the best practices in the industry, the ideal candidate would be someone who is knowledgeable about the current trends in the Transportation engineering and planning fields and be able to lead grant pursuit efforts and independently manage such projects along with coordination with stakeholders of competing interests.
Experience: One (1) to two (2) years of increasingly responsible experience in civil engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
At least two (2) years of experience preparing and reviewing transportation impact analyses for a range of project scales and being able to interpret the practical implications of the analysis results.
Familiarity with VMT, the current industry trends related to its implementation, and have experience managing and/or updating Traffic Impact Guidelines.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including building tools for transportation data analysis.
Experience managing transportation projects and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders with competing interests.
Experience presenting at public meetings and responding to questions/feedback from elected or appointed officials.
Traffic Engineering license.
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a closely related field. Some additional years of experience and specialized training may substitute for some of the educational requirements.
License or Certificate: Possession of, and continuously throughout employment, a valid CA Class "C" Driver's License.

We are recruiting for a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Communication Technician to perform preventative maintenance on Light Rail/ SCADA Communication systems and subsystems including but not limited to, variable message signs, emergency telephones, public address systems and closed-circuit digital television cameras.
The SCADA/Communications department of Metro Transit is responsible for maintaining all voice, audio and digital interfaces and recording devices. Also maintained are the variable message signs, programmable logic controllers, emergency telephones, public address systems, closed circuit televisions camera both fixed and pan tilt.
The successful candidate for this position must be able to work independently and be a self-starter. Eighty-eight percent (88%) of the work is performed in a field service type setting in all types of weather (i.e., on station platforms or in a Signal/Communications houses). We are seeking candidates with strong background in communications technology.
Hourly Pay Range:
For candidates newly hired into the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) contract, starting wage is set by the ATU contract. Internal hires will follow Metropolitan Council's union wage guidelines.
Hire: $40.80 hourly
After year one: $43.06 (based on ATU salary rates starting 8/1/2024)
After year two: $45.33 (subject to contract change, based on ATU salary rates starting 8/1/2024)
Work shifts are first and second shifts and could include weekend and holidays. All shifts and days off are picked by seniority order. Future work shifts may include additional shifts to meet future business needs.

What you would do in this job
Install, inspect, test, diagnose, repair and modify electrical, camera and speaker components. Replace or repair defective parts for Light Rail wayside communications equipment in the field and in the shop.
Use various types of test and troubleshooting equipment and software to diagnose problems.
Respond to service emergencies to provide field troubleshooting and repair of communications and electrical equipment such as variable message signs, programmable logic controllers, emergency telephones, public address systems, closed circuit television cameras both fixed, and pan tilt zoom, and 360 degree. Loss of communications with Rail Control Center and communication between field equipment and remote terminal units.
Prepare daily turnover log, create and update work order records in TX base, and complete monthly/quarterly inspection forms.
Attend and successfully complete all training including but not limited to annual rules on track safety, CPR, first aid and forklift certification.
Operates various vehicles associated with communications systems maintenance such as Hi-Rail trucks, bucket trucks and cranes.

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications)
Any of the following combinations of experience (in electrical/electronic technology or computer networking) and completed education (degree field of study in electrical/electronic technology, computer networking, or a closely related field):

Licensure Requirement:

As a Project EngineeringTechnician I for Bunnell-Lammons Engineering, Inc. (BLE), you will be working under the immediate supervision/direction of a registered professional engineer. You will work as a team member alongside site managers and engineers to perform the required inspection or sampling services. Our special Inspections technicians play a critical role in the quality assurance for every construction project no matter how large or small. Special Inspections Technicians actively collect concrete, soil, and other site materials for testing along with the continuous monitoring of general contractor activities, which may include but are not limited to onsite testing and reporting of earthwork and soil construction; foundation/subgrade evaluation; reinforcing steel; concrete placements; masonry as well as asphalt testing. Special Inspections Technicians are also responsible for accurately preparing daily reports for submission to the assigned project engineer. These reports not only include your test results summary, but detailed construction site observations as well.
Minimum Job Requirements
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
High School Diploma or General Education (GED)
Valid Driver's License with Clean Motor Vehicle Driving history (3 years)
Ability to work outdoors on a construction site in all seasons and weather conditions for extended periods of time.
You must be self-motivated, able to efficiently work independently while completing scheduled tasks.
Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with team members, BLE leadership, clients, local, state, and federal authorities of all levels.

Responsible for assisting with the design, building, modification, and administration of the Denton Municipal Electric (DME) Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System.
Essential Functions and Other Important Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Telemeter and archive data for real-time operations and engineering for design utilization, troubleshooting, and planning of the DME Electric System and alert System Operators to issues within the DME Electric System.

* Perform troubleshooting analysis on the DME SCADA System including, but not limited to, diagnosing control issues, data problems, RTU issues, field interface devices, operator error, input to field devices, network issues, and communication issues to return the DME SCADA System to real-time operations with little-to-no impact to other systems and/or internal and external stakeholders.
* Collaborate with vendors to ensure proper maintenance and function of the DME SCADA System.
* Assist with supervising the DME substation employees related to DME SCADA System and Substation tasks.
* Perform troubleshooting on relays, substation transformers, Load Tap Changers, switchgears, batteries, breakers and other related DME electric system equipment to resolve issues and maintain electric reliability.
* Perform periodic testing of relays, breakers, Load Tap Changers, batteries, and other equipment to ensure electric reliability.
* Conduct DME System Operators, Substation Technicians, Engineers, and other internal and external stakeholder training to ensure proper functioning of the DME SCADA System, as needed.
* Assist with internal and external stakeholders for all aspects related to Electric Substations; collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on specialist projects.
* Responsible for 15kv breaker preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and component upgrades.
* Complete field wiring, alarm verification and documentation for substation NERC testing, as appropriate.
* Assist Engineering group with retrieving event data from relays and with relay setting changes; assist with all SCADA upgrades.
* Perform battery charger maintenance and repair, equipment upgrades and retrofit installation; perform and assist substation personnel in annual battery testing, capacity testing, and ensure documentation is completed according to NERC requirements.
* Coordinate, assist, and supervisecontractors and substation technicians in construction of substations and the commissioning of new stations; assist withsecurity installation for all stations and office buildings.
* Perform switching on transmission and distribution switchgear, as needed.
* Read and understand blueprints and diagram schematics to properly troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning equipment using volt meters, ammeters, and related electric testing apparatus.
* Perform other duties normally assigned to other work team members in their absence, as needed.

MAJOR DUTIES
