Devereux Pennsylvania's School-based Mental Health Services provides resources, education and support to children - and their families - who are living with emotional, behavioral and cognitive differences. Our School-Based Clinicians respond to the mental health needs of students within a school district, as identified by district personnel.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group counseling to students based on referral from school district staff.
Train and provide information sessions for parents, school staff, and other stakeholders on mental health awareness and risk factors.

Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services' Brandywine School offers an education curriculum to children functioning at all grade levels. A multi-sensory educational strategy is used at all schools, employing traditional instruction, hands-on and independent learning, as well as technology, to individualize a student's progress in all academic areas, particularly math and reading. The goal of our Approved Private Schools is to create individualized educational opportunities that enable each student to live as a positive, healthy and socially-connected individual in his or her community.
Devereux Pennsylvania Children's Services (DPACS) center serves children, adolescents and young adults with autism spectrum disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, behavioral, emotional and psychiatric challenges and disorders. Located in West Chester and Malvern Pennsylvania, services provided include psychiatric residential treatment (PRTF), acute inpatient psychiatric hospital (AIP), assessment services, community-based mental health services, community-based employment training and social skills training, and approved private school educational services to male and female children and adolescents (6-21 years of age) with diagnoses of intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, concomitant psychiatric and behavioral challenges often associated with experiencing some level of trauma in their lives. A primary focus throughout the program is the philosophy of Program-Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PW-PBIS), a program-wide system of care that promotes and rewards positive behaviors, and prevents negative behaviors, to create safe, supportive living environments. Each year, more than 1,000 children and adolescents receive specialized care, in the environment best suited to the unique challenges they face, all with the goal of providing each child with the academic, social, emotional and life skills needed to flourish in their home community.

JOB TITLE: Behavior Specialist
The Behavior Specialist provides clinically oriented behavior support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis. The Behavior Specialist will work closely with our clinical, programmatic, residential and day support staff to develop holistic behavioral treatment plans that consider thoughts, feelings and behaviors of our participants within an interpersonal and systematic context.
