Surge Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking Part-time Food Service Dietary Aide's to join their team.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS (Including but not limited to):
Aids in all dietary functions as instructed, in accordance with policies and procedures to ensure that quality food service is provided at all times
Prepares portions and serves appropriate and adequate amounts of food items, beverages and desserts for meal service according to infection control procedures.
Prepares and delivers nourishment to the units at appropriate times according to procedure in a safe and sanitary manner.
Sets up trays and/or place settings according to prescribed therapeutic diets using meal tickets according to procedure in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.
Assists with meal set-up at mealtime according to the diet card, considering therapeutic diets, food preferences and consistencies to meet each resident's individual dietary needs.
Stores all food items and supplies according to the procedure including the storage of chemicals.
Stocks all needed items in appropriate quantities for proper functioning of the Dietary Department.
Prepares, washes, sanitizes and properly handles dishes and utensils and cooking utensils according to procedure in a timely, safe and sanitary manner.
Operates, cleans and sanitizes any equipment or carts utilized according to procedure in a safe and sanitary manner.
Cleans food service working area as assigned according to posted work and cleaning schedules. Maintains a neat, clean and orderly work environment including trash removal and cleaning of trash receptacles.
Understands and complies with posted work schedule.
Attends scheduled in-service education programs.
Discusses any problems, needs or concerns regarding the Dietary Department with the Food Service Director.
Assumes responsibility in supporting the Food Service Manager in promoting and maintaining positive employee relations and effective communications among facility staff.
Understands and adheres to all safety, sanitation, fire, disaster and personnel policies and procedures of the facility.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Food Service Director.

Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Dietary Aide.
In this role, the successful candidate Performs a variety of duties including preparation and/or service of food on the patient trayline, work in the dishroom or potroom, and serving as the porter or kitchen cleaner.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned
Properly sets up work stations for the efficiency of meal service. Able to read patient menus on tray line. Able to serve at steam table using correct portion control utensils.
Follows work assignments correctly. Practices safe handling of cleaning chemicals. Follows proper safety procedures of food preparation. Understands the difference in diets offered.
Cleans up work stations in dishroom and trayline. Follows proper proper sanitation and infection control procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School or GED. Strong communication (both oral and written), and customer service skills. Ability to read well and write legibly. Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications:
1- 2 years In Food Service.

Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Food Service Supervisor, performs a variety of patient food service, cafeteria, and dishroom duties as well as other related tasks.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Morning set-up includes coffee service, steam table (replace water), and start gathering supplies for lunch set up.
Unpack and store morning deliveries.
Move from storage (to prep service area) all foods and paper products required for the day.
Prepare the meal service area - serving pieces and dishes.
Assist with food service.
Clean kitchen, serving area, pots, pans, steam trays, tables, stove, shelves, work surfaces, utensils, and dining room in preparation for the next day.
Assist in prepping food required for the next day's menu.
Assist with inventory and organizing storerooms.
May substitute for cook's helper or dining room aide, as requested.
Assist in any additional service required by special events and parties.
Perform other tasks as requested and assigned by the Assistant Cook.
Maintain adherence to all sanitation standards.
Attend all training as required.

Qualifications:
GED or High School Diploma.
Minimally must be able to understand directions in food preparation, storage, and cleanup, in order to comply with NYC DOH sanitation standards.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on an intermittent basis and 30 pounds on a regular basis, and bend, squat, kneel, stretch hands overhead, lift, push, and pull up to 30 pounds on a regular basis.

JOB SUMMARY: The Cook is responsible for implementation of food services in Grand Street Settlement's Early Child Care Programs serving children ages 0-5 in accordance with Department of Health, CACFP and Head Start Performance Standards. Responsibilities include preparing attractive, USDA-approved meals; keeping the kitchen and classroom areas clean and sanitary according to Health Department ordinances; and maintaining adequate food stocks, kitchen supplies, and mandated CACFP nutrition records (including meal counts and food production records). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Center Director, the Cook shall be responsible for:
