The Most Reverend Francis R. Cotton, the first Bishop of Owensboro, was preconized (appointed) December 16, 1937.
The next major change occurred in 1948 when an announcement was made by Bishop Francis R. Cotton (the first bishop for the Diocese of Owensboro) that the parishes of St Paul and St Joseph’s would be combined to form one parish.
The Most Reverend John J. McRaith, appointed October 23, 1982, served as the third Bishop of Owensboro.
On April 2, 1989, the 100th anniversary and rededication of Sts.
Bishop McRaith resigned for health reasons January 5, 2009.
Bishop Medley was ordained to the episcopacy on February 10, 2010.
