Screens and inputs calls for service into system including reported crimes(s), using proper event codes. * Evaluates and prioritizes calls for service to determine the nature of the call and appropriate level of service required. * Dispatches and monitors radio traffic and location information of law enforcement personnel simultaneously. * Checks jurisdictional boundaries and notifies other agencies when a call is within their boundaries. Provides assistance as requested. * Responds to inquiries from law enforcement personnel for information on tag numbers, warrants, and other miscellaneous inquiries. Makes phone calls as needed. * Maintains communication logs in accordance with state regulations and agency policies. * Successfully completes all assignments to duties as directed specifications, within specified timeframe and budget as directed and in accordance with agency policies and regulations. * Performs other related duties as assigned. This policy also relates to the image the employee projects and includes cleanliness and personal grooming. * Operates and cares for equipment, tools, and vehicles according to prescribed standards and schedules. * High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required. * Valid Florida driver license or valid Florida ID required. * Must become certified as a Florida DOE Public Safety Telecommunicator within twelve (12) months of appointment. * Must become certified as Emergency Police Dispatcher (EPD within six (6) months of appointment. * Must be NCIC/FCIC certified or must obtain certification within six (6) months of appointment. * This is a 24/7 operation. Employee must be able to work flexible hours/schedules. * Initial employment will be in a trainee status. Entry level salary range applies until after successful completion of all required training, after which salary will be increased.     The Public Safety Officer II is responsible for providing advanced security services to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. This role involves mentoring junior officers, coordinating emergency responses, and implementing security protocols. The role plays a crucial role in maintaining a secure and safe environment within the healthcare facility. Ensures no one enters the hospital with any weapons or other unpermitted objects that would potentially cause a safety issue within our hospital. Hours: Rotating Shift, Casual / On Call, 19 Hours Per Week, Weekend Work Required Location: St Petersburg, FL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform all functions. * Perform comprehensive security patrols throughout the healthcare facility, including high-risk and sensitive areas. * Respond promptly and effectively to complex security incidents, emergencies, and alarms. * Oversee access control measures and ensure proper identification and authorization of individuals entering secure areas. * Provide mentorship to junior public safety officers, fostering their professional development. * Assist investigations of security incidents, including theft, vandalism, and disturbances, and prepare detailed incident reports. * Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as necessary during incidents. * Maintain accurate records of security activities and incidents for regulatory and internal review. * Participate in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans. * Conduct regular emergency drills and exercises to enhance readiness and response capabilities. * Serve as a key contact during emergencies, coordinating response efforts and providing leadership. * Assist training sessions for security staff on advanced security techniques, emergency response, and customer service. * Stay informed about the latest security technologies and best practices in healthcare security. * Assist in developing training materials and programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the security team. * Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety and security regulations. * Prepare for and assist with regulatory inspections and audits. * Implement and enforce policies and procedures to maintain a safe and secure environment. * Operate and monitor advanced security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarm systems. * Report and follow up on any malfunctions or issues with security equipment. * Recommend and assist in implementing technology upgrades to improve security operations. * Provide a high level of customer service, assisting patients, visitors, and staff with security-related concerns. PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICER II JOB DESCRIPTION Johns Hopkins Health System * Address security-related complaints and resolve conflicts in a professional manner. * Promote a positive image of the public safety department through effective communication and service QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Work: * High school diploma or equivalent. Additional training or education in criminal justice, public safety, or a related field is preferred. * Minimum of 2 years of experience in security or law enforcement. * Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or customer service roles preferred, with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent service and support to others preferred. Additional Requirements: * Applicants must be at least 21 years old to apply. Exceptions may be considered for individuals under 21 who have: * Military experience * Law enforcement experience * Comparable security experience in a health care environment Salary Range: Minimum 16.05/hour - Maximum 25.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
