Job Summary Responsible for specialized construction of segmental retaining wall systems. Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities Unloads materials on site that are to be used in the construction of retaining walls. Placing, raking, and shoveling stone to build a level footer for placing segmental block. Hooking chains, stacking, straightening, leveling, and shimming block to build a wall level wall consistent with the construction documents. Identify incorrect/short shipped items and immediately notify supervisor. Operate skid-steer or excavator to transport and place materials where designated by supervisor. Place all materials necessary during construction of the retaining wall system such as block, goe-grid, fabric, drainage pipe, etc. Maintain an understanding of all the products that are used on a retaining wall project, and how to use them. Maintains condition of work area (i.e. free of trash, product in correct location, etc.). Follows company safety policies and procedures and encourages other associates to do the same. Confirm payroll hours with direct supervisor before the end of each payroll period to confirm accuracy. Perform basic equipment maintenance such as changing oil, greasing fittings, changing filters, changing tracks, etc. Minimum Qualifications Must be a minimum of 18 years of age or older Must pass pre-employment assessment(s) if applicable Education And Experience HS Diploma or GED,strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally, 2 - 5 years of experience in area of responsibility. Work Environment Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements including, but not limited to, using a 10-key or calculator, bending or squatting. Outdoor environment with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes, which may cause noticeable discomfort. Typically requires overnight travel and hotel stays during the week. Employees are typically out of town more than 50% of weekdays. However, the hotel bills are covered by the employer and employees are home on the weekend. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of machines and tools. Time management and organization skills. Ability to understand written material and basic math skills. Interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with others in a group, cooperate with others, offer to help when needed, and foster a team climate within the group where members are committed to a common goal. Process Monitoring and Quality Control Ensure food safe handling procedures, and quality standards are followed Perform online cleanliness and quality inspections/analysis Stopping production if a defect is found Making necessary process and/or equipment adjustments Make approved adjustments as appropriate to maintain process parameters within designated limits Make recommendations regarding improving process operations Eliminate any source of contamination 3. Continuous Improvement Monitor and identify abnormal, marginal and ideal process conditions and practices Inspect finished product to assure adherence to specifications such as appearance, foreign substances and packaging or labeling requirements as required Resolve problems such as downtime, waste, etc. by applying corrective actions techniques. Participate in 5S and 5 Why manufacturing techniques. 4. Operator Care Perform minor adjustments and repairs to equipment (simple hand tools as required) Monitor repairs and adjustments - communicate with team lead, maintenance, and quality 5. Communication Communicate with others to insure proper production flow to avoid line downtime and waste and to reduce and eliminate rework.
