In this position, you will develop and execute multi-year, cross-functional (e.g. product line leaders, material managers, engineers, operations, and quality) supply chain strategies. You will minimize total landed cost (material cost, freight, duties, inventory, etc.) impact by containing costs through supply base management processes and strategies working with suppliers and the company. This role will also facilitate cross-functional communications to drive optimized sourcing strategies supporting new product development programs. This is an in-office role located at our facility in Austin, TX. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * End-to-end indirect procurement ownership to quote, issue and fulfill purchase orders. * Develop supply base / category strategies consistent with business initiatives. * Analyze suppliers and their industries, identify preferred suppliers, and regionalize / rationalize / optimize supply base. * Develop capital expenditures, test equipment and facilities sourcing strategies, understand technical specifications and the requirements of technical data packages used for manufacturing equipment. * Track and communicate global industry trends, supplier and competitor strategies, key commodity cost drivers, economic factors, and opportunities in the global marketplace. * Develop cost models to understand "should be" cost to identify and drive cost reduction opportunities and assure cost competitiveness in pursuit of new business opportunities. * Work closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Engineering in support of Cost Estimating/Quotation process. * Identify Cost Reduction opportunities based on benchmarking data base and key cost driver analysis, capacity analysis at suppliers, product/process improvements, implementation of new technologies, and execution of competitive sourcing process. * Negotiate price and contract agreements. Ensure key contractual reductions are realized. * Improve speed and flexibility of the supply chain to align with internal and external customer expectations * Establish best practices in supply chain prior to production to achieve product launch and ramp-up schedules. JOB REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Materials, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or related degree. MBA is preferred, but not required. * Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in buying and sourcing Capital expenditures or test equipment in the Aerospace industry. * Space specific industry experience is required. * Proficiency using Microsoft Excel (pivot table, formulas, reports) and MRP systems, ideally Acumatica. * Experience identifying, evaluating, and developing new suppliers for space applications. * Detailed market knowledge gained through any of the following: experience in engineering, operations and/or marketing, or first-hand procurement negotiation knowledge. * Superior written and oral communication skills and the ability to manage multiple, conflicting priorities. * Must possess negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills with demonstrated results. * Highly organized and able to function successfully in a fast-paced product development environment. SOURCING MANAGER (STARLINK) SpaceX is on a fast track to become the market leader in various product categories like US based human spaceflight, rapid vehicle reusability, internet services through the Starlink constellation and other exciting projects. Partner with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Facilities, and IT to source and procure goods and services that meet cost, schedule, and quality expectations. Negotiate pricing, terms, and lead times with suppliers to achieve optimal value and support budget objectives. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the company's ERP system (Deltek Costpoint), including supplier data, PO tracking, and delivery schedules. Support supplier qualification and onboarding for indirect vendors, ensuring compliance with Shield AI's standards and policies. Collaborate cross-functionally to forecast indirect procurement needs and identify opportunities for process or cost improvements. Partner with finance and stakeholders to reconcile invoices, resolve discrepancies, and ensure timely payment. Support implementation of standard work and best practices for indirect procurement processes. Required Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or sourcing, with a focus on indirect categories such as facilities, IT, software, or capital equipment. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and high-volume transactional work while maintaining attention to detail. Strong negotiation, analytical, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with ERP systems (Deltek Costpoint preferred). Excellent communication and relationship-building skills to partner effectively with internal teams and suppliers. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in aerospace, defense, or high-tech manufacturing environments. Knowledge of FAR/DFARS or other compliance-driven procurement practices. Background in sourcing or managing suppliers for capital equipment, production tooling, or IT infrastructure.
