Emergencymedical care and related duties as assigned. An employee will be proficient with E.M.S. equipment and be able to operate same in any given situation. Must have the ability to evaluate and treat patients in medicalemergencies. Employees in this class will maintain E.M.S. and firefighting skills as well as their Paramedic License throughout City of Southfield tenure.
* Must have a State of Michigan Paramedic License before date of hire.
* Be a U.S. citizen; 18 years of age or older at the time of application; Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
* Must have the State of Michigan Firefighter I & II Certification
* For lateral consideration, applicant must be currently employed as a sworn Fire Fighter and be a Fire Fighter in "good standing" or if recently separated from service (i.e. laid off) must have been a Fire Fighter in "good standing" at the time of separation.
* Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodations.
* Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license and a good driving record as determined by the City's Driving Standards.
* Must have no felony convictions and no record of serious misdemeanor convictions.
* All applicants must pass or have proof of passing a Physical Ability Test within the last (1) year by time of hire.
* Must have a current passing test score (at least 70%) on record with Empco by date of application and have The City of Southfield Fire Department selected in your profile. The selection process will include the completion of a City of Southfield application packet, a review of the applicant's qualifications, driving record and criminal history check, a written examination, and an oral board interview. Selected candidates will be subject to an extensive background investigation, and must successfully pass a psychological evaluation and physical exam prior to employment. Each step of the process must be passed before the applicant will be moved to the next step.
How to Schedule the Written Exam through EMPCO:
1. To schedule a test through Empco, go to ********************** and follow the instructions. Create a new profile or log in to your existing Empco profile, then click on the Test Schedule to sign up for a Firefighter test. Be sure to select The City of Southfield Fire Department under the Select Agencies tab in your Empco profile in order for your test score and information to be viewable to our department.
2. You must complete an online profile and schedule a written examination for this position at **********************. Read and follow the listed instructions. There is a fee to take the examination but the results of this one test will be accepted by all participating Fire Departments in Michigan. The Firefighter written exam must be completed with a score of 70% or higher prior to submitting your application. You must select The City of Southfield Fire Department under the Select Agencies tab in your Empco profile in order for your test score and information to be viewable to our department.
Lateral applicants that are currently employed as a sworn fire fighter or have less than 30 days since being employed as one are excluded the EMPCO Written Examination requirements.
Applicants must maintain all minimum requirements and certifications while waiting for consideration for employment. Names of the successful candidates will remain eligible for consideration for one year from placement on the Eligibility List.

How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements

* Assist in the maintenance of coolant filters, washers, paint systems, pumps, air handling systems, etc. for sump changes and cleaning, as required to keep fluids within proper limits.
* Measure and record coolant parameters and maintain lubrication schedules to ensure parameters are met to maintain the highest coolant conditions. This may involve the dropping and cleaning of tanks when required.
* Liaise directly with the customer so that changes in coolant parameters are highlighted and can then be acted upon and enter results in appropriate databases. Prepare detailed shift reports.
* Assist in routine maintenance on customer's equipment and fluid systems including product additions, filter changes, emptying gondolas, sump cleaning, etc. as directed.
* Assist in disposal of contaminated articles (i.e. pails, gloves, samples, etc.) in accordance with prescribed measures, including waste management and recycling initiatives
* Assist in maintaining and calibrating all laboratory equipment, such as scales, pH meters, glassware, incubators, etc. in accordance with site control plan.
* Assist in properly maintaining tools and utility equipment such as pumps, sump suckers, coolant dispensers, etc. in a safe and efficient manner.
* Where appropriate: Cut-up, mount and prepare parts for metallurgical testing. Surface etching of parts for analysis. Measurement and metallurgical determinations consisting of hardness and microstructure analysis
* Supports site staff general organization initiatives (inventory, storage rooms, labeling, etc.)
* May work in manufacturing environment with union associates.

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).
How you will contribute
* You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
* You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medicalemergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
* You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
* You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
* You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
* You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.
What you bring to Takeda:
* High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
* Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
* Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
* Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
* Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
* Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
