The EMT Apprentice position supports this mission by transporting passengers with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities and responding to all assigned calls in the most appropriate and efficient manner. It provides the highest standards of patient care while providing a safe and hazard-free environment. The EMT Apprentice reports to the Training and Quality Assurance Manager and, in his/her absence, the Field Operations Supervisor/Operations Manager.
Strategic/Transformational Duties and Responsibilities
* Provides exceptional customer service as the first point of contact with the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay by safely transporting passengers with medical, physical, emotional, or developmental disabilities in a safe, courteous and professional manner.
* Participates in the performance quality improvement (PQI) process and uses data to improve services and outcomes.
In addition to the above, after successful completion of EmergencyMedical Responder training and additional training rides:
* Provides assistance to higher-level personnel by performing basic first aid life support and interventions using minimal equipment on scene of emergencies and interfacility transports.

Transactional/Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
* Follow predetermined route and/or daily manifest in Hillsborough and/or Pasco counties.

* Ensure the patient is properly secured during transport.
* Safely transport individuals in a company vehicle to a designated facility, including physical and emotional well-being.
* Complete and maintain proper patient and transportation documentation.

Physical Requirements:

A polysomnographic technologist may help physicians and other health care professionals conduct more specialized sleep studies, including continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) titration and bi-level PAP (BiPAP) studies. A CPAP study helps determine the optimal airflow rate for treating patients with sleep-related breathing disorders (2). Patients who are diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, for instance, may undergo CPAP studies to find the most suitable treatment options.
Providers might also recommend treatment with BiPAP equipment if CPAP treatment isn't optimal. With BiPAP studies, sleep technologists observe and determine if BiPAP machines would be more appropriate for unique patient treatments. Sleep techs may also work in pediatrics and perform sleep studies for children. In pediatric sleep studies, technologists use the same equipment as they do for adult patients but may complete additional training to specialize in this area (3)..

Lead Instructors are required to have intermediate to advanced field experience and obtain and apply knowledge of Barry EMS student handbook program policies, classroom operation, and learning
management software (LMS) operation. Lead Instructors are accountable for interacting with Adjunct instructors when being relieved of instruction, such as lecture & lab, and other pass-down teaching assignments.
All Barry EMS (EMT and Paramedic) Instructors must be well versed in the delivery of content in full accordance with the NATIONAL STANDARDS EMT and Paramedic Scope of Practice and advanced patient assessment and treatment modalities with the end goal of properly preparing students for NREMT

Essential Functions
The Lead EMT instructors will:
Evaluate students on a schedule as directed by the Program Director via the EMS Programs
Coordinator.
Provide cognitive, affective, psychomotor, and summative evaluations as directed.
Take attendance and review student homework assignments are completed prior to the start of class.
Assign teaching assignments to Adjunct Instructors as necessary.
Take and document corrective action with students as necessary.
Maintain records of test failure attempts.
Maintain records of verbal and written counseling.
Enter grades in the current Barry University grade entry system.
Follow the syllabus and training plans as laid out by the Training Coordinator and Coordinator Staff and Medical Director.
Maintain current the EMS Program LMS platform in conjunction with the Training Coordinator.
Complete all student evaluations promptly.
Ensure all class and lab space is always properly policed, keeping areas and equipment neat, clean,
and in full working order.
Teach for the entire duration of the class period, maximizing the instruction within the available class
time.
Follow all rules, regulations, policies, et., set forth by the Director and Coordinator staff.
Adhere to 64-J Bureau of EMS Florida Administration Codes.
Qualifications/Requirements
Vocational/Technical training in the field of Firefighter-Paramedic. An Associate's degree is preferred.
2-5 years of proven experience is required.
Must have the ability to comprehend and deliver advanced life support curricula in the classroom, clinical, and lab environments.
Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Canvas and familiarity with JBL Learning and FISDAP student skill tracking software is required.
Must have experience using advanced EMS equipment and training simulation mannequins and EMS training equipment.
Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
