Location: Emory John's Creek Hospital
Hours: 7:30a-4:00p with call back and holiday work rotations
Provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures.
Communicates patient needs and responses through appropriate verbal and written correspondence.
Ensures documentation is complete and accurate regarding all aspects of patient care. Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment as well as keeps abreast of uses of medical devices.
Assumes responsibility and provides direct care for all procedures performed in this area. Ensures that patients have been prepared for procedures.
Provides quality care to patients during procedures. Assists with patient and family education. May support or assist in research and related activities.
Demonstrates an adequate knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs.
Assists with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequence.
Acts as a resource for students and junior technologists. Completes procedures in Radiology Information System to ensure billing of exams/procedure.
Prepares billing sheet and submits per guidelines. Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation as required in imaging services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and at a minimum be registered with the ARRT.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience with one (1) year in MR. Advanced certification in MR preferred.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Under general supervision, evaluates and implements the care of adult and geriatric patients undergoing mammography and breast related invasive procedures.
Assesses assigned patients needs by reviewing the radiology request, the patient's medical history, admitting diagnosis, and physician's orders.
Assesses the patient's physical needs, evaluates diagnostic data, and interviews the patient and family.
Prioritizes imaging needs for an assigned group of patients. Collaborates with other members of the health team to determine patient care priorities.
Assists in identifying complex patient problems related to symptoms, behavioral changes, and abnormal diagnostic data.
Evaluates patient's response of procedural care delivery. Practices radiation protection techniques.
Takes precautions to minimize patient and staff exposure to x-radiation. Notifies supervisor of safety issues as they occur.
Assures continuity and quality of care through effective decision-making and continuous patient assessment.
Anticipates potential patient crisis through continual evaluation of patient care. Assists with appropriate care interventions for identified patient problems.
Utilized standards of care and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the radiologic procedure. Involves the patient and or significant others in the radiologic process.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology and registered with the ARRT.
They must have a minimum of two (2) years experience with one (1) year in Mammography.
Advanced certification in Mammography is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.

Major Responsibilities
Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam. Contacts ordering provider when there are discrepancies.
Properly identify
(Using two patient identifiers)
and assist patients while offering a brief explanation of the procedures. Prepares patients for the procedure with a full explanation and documents on appropriate worksheets.
Interviews patients for a complete medical history. Reviews in-patients, ER, and outpatients EMR's to obtain pertinent clinical history. Records medical history on requisitions. Correlates other test results and laboratory data with exam being performed.
Assumes responsibility for the exam from beginning of exam until completion of dictated results.
Prepares and administers IV contrast according to departmental protocols. On request, records contrast type and amount.
Evaluates technical quality of images and consults with a Radiologist if needed. Recognizes abnormal anatomy and processes any additional, reconstructed images, and/or measurements as instructed.
Performs basic patient care functions. Informs appropriate nursing personnel of any changes in the patient's condition. Initiates life support measures for patients when necessary. Assists in “code blue” procedures during medical emergencies.
Performs CT scanning and assists Radiologist/PA during invasive procedures. Practices proper sterile technique in the preparation of necessary supplies. Performs all invasive procedures in accordance with bloodborne pathogens, isolation, and infection control policies and procedures.
Is authorized to obtain medication or contrast material as directed for administration by a licensed practitioner.
Practices principle of radiation safety for self, employees, patients and family members. Follows appropriate radiation safety standards.
Reports malfunctioning equipment to the department director/manager/supervisor and clinical engineering/radiology engineer precautions. Maintains knowledge and skills to work safely in an environment that can create significant exposure to bloodborne pathogens and infectious disease.
Adheres to the hospital fire and safety procedures. Attends all in-service classes and completes all required safety modules.
Performs work in an accurate and timely manner in periods of crisis and emergency situations where time is critical. Rotates shifts as required including call back, holidays, and weekends. Adheres to the Atrium Health attendance policy by being punctual and taking measures to prevent absences.
Operates radiology computer system to include entering orders and charging procedures/supplies. Documents contrast administration in the MAR.
Maintains assigned work area in a neat and orderly fashion. Keeps area completely stocked. Cleans all work areas to promote cleanliness in the workplace.
Assists other medical personnel, such as anesthesia, when performing exams or services in conjunction with a CT scan.
Minimum Job Requirements
Education
Graduate of an institution accredited by an agency that ARRT recognizes Radiologic Technology.
Certification / License
ARRT certification in Radiology, or NMTCB for Nuclear Medicine and advanced registry from the ARRT in CT scanning within one year of hire in addition to current CPR certification.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Requires moderate to heavy physical efforts in lifting and moving patients, equipment and supplies. Occasional standing, walking, and sitting during normal operation. Frequently may be to stretch, bend twist, squat or kneel in the daily operation of the CT department. May be exposed to various physical conditions throughout the day such as walking on hard surfaces, climbing stairs, being near moving equipment. Required to use radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.

Job Summary
Under indirect supervision performs all duties associated with acquisition, processing, submission for interpretation, and archiving of CT images. Responsible for the care of the patient while in the Cat Scan Department.
Demonstrates competency in positioning of all CT procedures as prescribed by departmental policy and CT protocols.
Communicates with patients to explain procedures, obtain clinical history, confirm acknowledgment of patients ' understanding and address any questions or concerns.
Positions patient and formulates appropriate techniques to demonstrate cross-sectional anatomy of interest based on accepted radiographic principles. Judges diagnostic quality of finished medical images prior to submission to radiologist for interpretation.
Performs venipuncture for administration of radiopaque media and assists in obtaining informed consent as appropriate
Reviews all diagnostic imaging requests for appropriateness based on clinical information provided. All questionable orders are communicated to the radiologists for final approval.
Takes verbal orders from providers as needed and enters appropriately in RIS system.
Prepares and maintains records in accordance with various regulatory agencies and enters patient and study information into the radiology information system, and documents billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
Assists, communicates, and consults with the Radiologists. Works independently outside the department with providers.
Observes patient during radiologic exam for change in status and makes appropriate intervention or contacts primary care givers for instruction.
Provides guidance, direction and mentoring for other personnel that maybe assigned to the area in which they are working including student radiographers.
Identifies and corrects problems as appropriate with all critical occurrences reported to the next level of authority.
Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost-efficient manner.
Maintains all required continuing education and applicable certifications for modality
What You Will Need
Must be a High School or GED Diploma Graduate.
Graduate of AMA, JRC or Regionally Accredited approved school of Radiologic Technology
Certification/License/Registration: ARRT Registered or Registry eligible through the ARRT.
ARRT CT registry required in accordance with Work Instruction EMP 8

Key Responsibilities:
Patient Preparation and Communication:
Prepare patients for CT scans by explaining the procedure, answering any questions, and ensuring they are comfortable.
Verify patient information, including medical history, allergies, and prior imaging, to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate imaging protocols.
Position patients properly on the CT table to obtain the necessary images, ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the process.

Operation of CT Equipment:
