The Gordon Laboratory seeks a motivated Research Specialist to spearhead cutting-edge Proteomics and Experimental Genetics studies focused on virus-host interactions, immune regulation, and carcinogenesis. The Gordon Lab pioneers advanced mass spectrometry, experimental genetics, and computational approaches to map functional pathways. Based in the Emory University Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, we have ample access to primary tissue samples, and our affiliation with the Pathology Translational Research Unit provides extraordinary collaboration opportunities towards data-driven analyses and synergy with world-leading immunologists. Our affiliation with Georgia Tech through the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering enables transformative collaborations in technology development, including computational prediction of molecular interactions. Lastly, our affiliation with therapeutic development programs such as the Winship Cancer Center Discovery and Developmental Therapeutics Program translates our research into therapeutic approaches. Our research program includes both academic and industry collaborations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Under general supervision, performs a variety of defined research and laboratory tests and experiments according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.
+ Sets up experiments as prescribed by a principal investigator.
+ May be required to participate in laboratory maintenance activities such as sterilization and cleaning of equipment, ordering of supplies, inventory and media preparation.
+ Maintains records, files and logs of work performed in laboratory notebooks and computer databases.
+ Compiles data and records results of studies for publications, grants and seminar presentations.
+ Employees in this classification may be required to work with, take specific precautions against and/or be immunized against potentially hazardous agents.
+ Performs related responsibilities as required by principal investigator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Bachelor's degree in a scientific field OR equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Molecular biology experience (PCR, DNA cloning, agarose gel electrophoresis, etc.).
+ Cell culture experience.
+ Strong training in biochemistry and molecular biology-related coursework.
+ Mass spectrometry and/or proteomics data analysis.
+ Biochemistry expertise (e.g. protein interaction studies, HPLC operation, etc.).
+ Molecular biology and experimental genetics (si RNA, CRISPR, PCR, DNA cloning, etc.).
+ DNA sequence analysis (Snapgene, Geneious or other DNA analysis tools).
+ Experience analyzing large datasets.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
* Under general supervision, coordinates activities related to credentialing of Medical Staff and Allied Health professionals. Serves as a liaison between the various hospital departments and the medical staff.
* Provides accurate verification of practitioner files for initial appointment and recredentialing. Reviews applications and follows up to obtain any missing information to ensure applications are complete.
* Maintains current copy of Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations. Prepares monthly schedule of medical staff and departmental meetings. Prepare agendas, attends, transcribes and maintains minutes for medical staff meetings. Enters arid retrieves data from computer using CAS/EHIS database management software.
* Produces reports and maintains current Medical Staff roster. Documents how to access computer files. Makes requests of and reports to the National Data Bank as required.
* Coordinates the credentialing process for appointments/reappointments in compliance with the hospital Bylaws.
* Coordinates with Q.A. Coordinates all preparation activity for J.C.A.H.O. surveys regarding Medical Staff and/or Credentialing area. Performs related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* A high school diploma or equivalent and one year of credentialing experience in an acute care hospital, managed care organization and/or credentialing verification organization.
* A bachelor's degree may be substituted in lieu of experience. A basic knowledge of accreditation standards and state and federal credentialing related regulations and a working knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
* Must have experience with word processing and database management computer applications.

Responsible for converting paper records to electronic images utilizing the Document Imaging and Indexing System and work queue to make the medical records available for viewing within 48 hours of discharge.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Performs all aspects of the Document Imaging functions for the legal medical record.
* Ensures documentation created by healthcare practitioners on paper is scanned, indexed and validated within 48 hours from the date of discharge to support the safety of the patient and aligns with all federal, state, or regulatory guidelines
* After scanning the documents, the Specialist will perform a quality check on the documents to ensure the accuracy of data for each patient is correct and inclusive of all data received for patient safety, including legibility.
* The Document Imaging Specialist will perform all tasks within defined expectations for productivity and quality, to ensure the integrity of the legal medical record
* Keeps all patient information confidential and abides with Privacy and Security regulations
* Prepares, indexes and scans medical record documentation according to specifications with high degree of accuracy and quality
* Verifies and validates image/documentation based on impact for clinical access and workflow
* Performs document imaging duties at an established production rate and meets quality expectations to ensure the integrity of the legal health record

Positions patient, administers oral or intravenous contrast as required. Monitors patient reaction and responds to adverse reactions with emergency procedures as necessary.
Selects equipment parameters and logs pertinent information.
Performs scanning procedure. Modifies parameters as required to improve visualization of desired anatomy.
Assist physician with CT guided procedures, to include, but not limited to biopsies, aspirations, needle localizations, ablations, and drainage exams. Practices sterile technique as required. Sets up sterile trays with all supplies and instruments required for procedures.
Organizes images, performs the scan and transfers exam to PACS system.
Responsible for ensuring communication to radiologist regarding Acute Stroke patients and certifying compliance with Acute Stroke protocols.
Ensures all billable procedure charges are entered in a timely manner after the procedure is completed. Rectifies all missing charges from HBI report.
Performs minor maintenance and repairs on Computerized Tomography (CT) equipment. Refers other problems to the Computerized Tomography (CT) Supervisor.
Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to Manager.
Performs myelograms, venograms, arthrograms, and other studies requiring intravenous or Sudbury injection of contrast medium.
Assists physicians with studies. Delivers intravenous medication under direct supervision of physicians.
Regularly performs the duties and responsibilities of the computed technologist. Performs routine computed tomography examinations in accordance with specific operating instructions and safety.
Trains new staff members in the procedural areas
Communicates the need for procedural supplies in a timely manner to the designated department personnel responsible for ordering supplies.
Coordinators day to day workflow with the Radiologist, CT Supervisor, and procedural nurses
Must be able to work in a team environment. May be asked to work in another department as needs dictate.
REQUIRED
Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
Registered CT Technologist from ARRT (CT) or NMTCB (CT)
Registered Radiology Technologist (ARRT).
Must hold Certification in American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS).
PREFERRED
Prior experience in Computerized Tomography (CT) scanning.
