Role description:
Arcadis is seeking an Environmental Project Manager / Line Manager to be based out of our Charlotte, NC office. This full-time position within our Restoration East group will help manage power and energy, freight rail, and industrial projects with input from technical experts.
The Project Manager part of this position requires both office and field work; you should expect to be out in the field up to 10-25% of the time mentoring junior staff. Field work will be performed at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment, groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous substances and/or hazardous wastes. The Line Manager portion of this position serves as a key leadership role in our business operations by focusing on the success and growth of our people and developing their technical and consulting skills. You will have the ability to successfully coordinate and collaborate with all parts of the organization, including Client Account Leaders, Market Sector Leaders, and Service Line Leaders in other geographies and business units, and will always have a direct line of communication to Area Leaders. You will be a proven and inspiring leader who embraces and promotes Arcadis' vision and values: people first, integrity, client success, collaboration, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will have work experience in the utilities industry.
Role accountabilities:
Manage scope, schedule, staffing, and budget for environmental remediation projects, both large and small scale.
Responsible for client and regulatory correspondence and interactions.
Lead teams to evaluate data to support conceptual site models for environmental investigations.
Delineate the nature and extent of contamination, evaluate, and implement remedial alternatives, and modify/optimize remediation and monitoring programs
Strong writing skills are required as this role is responsible for technical report reviewing and writing.
Oversee and participate in people management within the Area, including hiring, onboarding, performance management and terminations, and meet with Region and Area leadership periodically for Regional strategy and business development meetings.
Make compensation recommendations to the Area Leader on leadership opportunities, staff promotions, quarterly market adjustments, merit increases, and spot bonus.
Work with stakeholders on workload leveling across the Area, including identifying staff for project opportunities and the need for external hiring.
Train, coach, and mentor staff on consulting best practices and motivate staff to achieve business growth goals.
The ability to support and implement company priorities such as GEC usage, MEPC, Digital offerings, and sustainability.
Be a visible steward of Health & Safety by completing required stewardship goals and being a strong mentor and example for H&S.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Science, Engineering or closely related field
Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental consulting
Previous project management experience
Preferred:
PE or PG

Job Description
We're looking for experienced, professional CDL B drivers that will share our commitment to our people, partners and planet. Traveling to locations on your assigned route, you will be responsible for packing, transporting and properly disposing of waste material in accordance with our environmentally responsible policies and procedures. This position will require 4 overnights/week (with paid hotel expenses and a nightly per diem).
Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
The CDL B driver works on-site at various retail stores and perform two functions, applying all applicable federal and state laws and DOT, EPA and DEA regulations: 1) Characterize segregate, package and document various types of retail hazardous waste and 2) Characterize, segregate, package, and document various types of pharmaceutical waste. This position is also responsible for the preparation of all appropriate and required documentation to meet State, EPA, DOT and EPA regulations.
Travel between customer retail facilities, through assigned territory.
Provide services related to managing retail hazardous waste and pharmaceutical waste as well as characterizing hazardous, regulated, and non-hazardous waste.
Properly process lab packs and prepare manifests and LDR's for hazardous waste shipment (according to State, EPA & DOT regulations).
Maintain / manage own expenses and travel schedule to ensure customers are serviced on a regular and timely basis. Manage route to maintain compliance with 10 day transfer schedules.
Provide training and support for customers on processes, findings and regulatory compliance.
Provides written and verbal reports to customer and supervisor.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
At least 21 years of age
High School diploma or GED
Understand, read, and write English
Able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Able to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods of time
Basic knowledge of Windows-based software (Word, Excel, etc)

* Properly process lab packs and prepare manifests and LDR's for hazardous waste shipment (according to State, EPA & DOT regulations).
* Maintain / manage own expenses and travel schedule to ensure customers are serviced on a regular and timely basis. Manage route to maintain compliance with 10 day transfer schedules.
* Provide training and support for customers on processes, findings and regulatory compliance.
* Provides written and verbal reports to customer and supervisor.

Required Qualifications
Experience in Operations and Maintenance
1+ years' experience in any of the above listed trades.
Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in environmental sampling
Experience with plastic piping, electronic controls and excavating is helpful.
Solid Waste industry experience a plus.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and current 8-hour annual HAZWOPER training

Possess a valid driver's license
Travel within the United States up to 50% of the time

S&ME's Spark Internship Program is open to current students from a variety of different educational backgrounds and career focus. Internship opportunities are available across our various Service Lines including: Civil Engineering, Construction Services and Materials Testing, Environmental Services and Industrial Hygiene, Geotechnical Engineering, and Transportation Design-Build.
As part of the 2026 Spark Internship Program, you will work alongside experienced professional and technical employee-owners within your area of interest. You will be a part of an intern cohort and will learn about all aspects of S&ME. S&ME's internship will provide you with invaluable hands on experience, access to technical experts across the company, as well as provide professional development to help you transition from campus to career and find success in our industry.
Qualifications:
Enrolled in a related degree program; Rising Juniors, Seniors, or Graduate students preferred;
Related experience and/or campus, community, work-related leadership experience preferred;
At least 18 years of age;
Out of town travel may be required;
For technical roles the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions is required;
Routine lifting may be required: 40 to 50 lbs.

These are full-time, internship positions for a twelve-week period from May 2026 through August 2026 with competitive pay based on experience. Housing or a housing stipend will not be provided.
