Role Expectations: Responsible for evaluating, preparing, and submitting federal, state, and local site permits for the site development of Transmission capital project work concerning regulated electric transmission substations and lines. Responsible for providing functional direction in preparing site development permit submittals for all federal, state, and local regulatory agencies, and compliance assurance support related to Transmission capital project work. Serve on project teams to provide expertise on permitting, site design and overall permitting requirements. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance requirements and working knowledge of their impact to Transmission projects. Provide support to the Transmission Construction team so ongoing Transmission capital projects remain in compliance with federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations. Works independently to determines and develop approaches to solutions. Serves as a transmission site development permitting expert for capital transmission projects and provides specialized technical design expertise and judgment to resolve complex permitting issues. Maintain project schedules and accountability for meeting specified schedules for permitting tasks. Track project schedules and task in Team Member. Develop processes and maintain appropriate permit records as needed. Overnight travel (25%) occasionally required. Fieldwork requires ability to navigate and work in all weather conditions and uneven terrain. What we're looking for: Bachelor's degree in engineering, sciences or other related field of study Minimum of 10 years of applicable experience. Proficient in obtaining and federal , state, and local site development permits within the state of Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky. Preferred Qualifications: Experience obtaining regulatory approvals from within multiple regulatory jurisdictions or agencies in the state of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky (i.e. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S Fish and Wildlife Service, State Historic Preservation Office, Indiana DEM, Ohio EPA and Kentucky E&EC). Ten years of experience supporting and managing electric utility, land-development projects and/or linear construction projects. Excellent negotiating skills with regulators and the public regarding the environmental permitting of land development projects Demonstrate ability to successfully influence outcome with a high level of collaboration within a project team setting. Professional certification/ license (i.e. CPESC, QEP, PWS, PE) Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, natural sciences, civil / environmental engineering, or environmental science. The Environmental Manager is responsible for the preparation of the Landfill budget, managing all spending for the Engineering department, and overseeing all personnel during site development. The Environmental Manager is also responsible for permitting and ensuring the Landfill remains in compliance with all applicable regulations during operation. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES: * Manages construction projects for Landfill cells and sites, including capacity calculations, scheduling/timeline, and resource and material coordination. * Maintain financial responsibility for construction/cell development, closure/post-closure, engineering, operations, and cost tracking. * Coordinates completion of permit applications and designs, including regulatory interface, site expansion, modification or changes to the operating plan application, and other related data. * Prepares notifications/responses to regulatory inspections, administrative warnings. * Assists Landfill and Site Managers with development of fill sequencing plans. * Participates in review of targeted acquisitions, including Phase I assessment/property survey coordination, engineering review of design and operations, and pro-forma modeling assistance. * Performs ongoing public relations and due diligence activities through communication with corporate office, regulatory agency representatives, third party consultants and investors. * Completes monthly soil tracking reports and other status reports. * Regularly supervises Environmental Technicians and Specialists, including responsibility for hiring, training, mentoring, developing, scheduling, directing, managing performance and other related issues; review the work of, and is accountable for the performance of Environmental Technicians and Specialists. * Attends regulatory and association sponsored informational and policy meetings. * Ensures continued compliance by coordinating air, water monitoring, environmental data review and reporting. * Performs other job-related duties as assigned. The Summer Seasonal Naturalist supports the efforts of Rocky River Nature Center staff with educational programs, summer camps, recreation programs, animal care, gardening, hosting, office work, cleaning, and other duties as assigned.
