The Project Scientist works independently and in cooperation with the Principal Investigator to make significant and creative contributions to a research or creative project in any academic discipline. The Project Scientist may be an ongoing member of a research team or may be employed for a limited period of time to contribute highlevel skills to a specific research or creative program.
The lab has a strong track record of translating mechanistic bench science-including studies that interrupt signaling between the tumor and host-into clinical trials across multiple cancer types. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to early-stage therapeutic development alongside a highly skilled, collaborative research team, with direct potential impact on improving outcomes for cancer patients.
Project Scientists are not required to carry out independent research or to develop an independent research reputation and do not have teaching responsibilities. Ordinarily, the Project Scientist title will carry out research or creative programs as well as administration of day-to-day lab operations with supervision by a member of the Professorial Series.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
May assist in preparation of grant proposals, submissions, publications and presentations but is not responsible for generating grant funds.
May serve as PI for certain grants as approved by supervising member of the Professorial Series.
May participate in publications and presentations as author or co-author.
May develop, adapt and implement new research techniques and protocols.
Assists in lab experiments.
Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data.
May lead or train Staff Research Associates and Research Fellows.
Will assist in day-to-day laboratory activities.
Appointees on an academic trajectory will be expected to commit a portion of their time to developing an independent range of research.

We are looking for educated, professional and energetic people for our academic naturalist seasonal position. Come to Orange County, CA and help us mold young minds and have fun too as we teach common core science standards to students. Our coverage in science goes over the field of life science, physical science and earth science. These include conducting experiments, using our telescopes, digging in our garden and excavating in the Lucy Lou Mine. Also give them a strong appreciation of the outdoors by facilitating hiking, archery, zip lining, rock climbing and even our challenge course. All training is provided and paid for. before schools arrive. Staff is required to work 5 full days a week (normally Mon.-Fri.). Chaperoning at night is a requirement as well.
We are looking for staff to join our team through June. The starting pay is $400/ week. The position amenities includes dorm style housing (rent free), a common room with two refrigerators, WiFi, satellite TV and kitchenette. All meals provided to students will be provided to naturalists. This is a residential camp position.

Qualifications & Experience:

10+ years of experience in a client-oriented consulting environment with focus on industrial hygiene practice, specifically asbestos, lead-paint, hazardous building materials, management, indoor air quality and mold evaluations, and chemical exposure assessments
State of California Certified Asbestos Consultant (CAC) and State of California Lead Inspector/Assessor
Attention to detail, strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to identify problems and implement corrective actions. Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Ability to deliver effective presentations and trainings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
General understanding of HVAC systems, building mechanical systems, building construction, renovation, and demolition.
Knowledge of applicable OSHA, EPA, and state regulations for asbestos, lead, etc.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. of equipment over the duration of a work shift. Must be able to climb and descend a ladder.

Spring Seasonal Naturalist Position
We are looking for educated, professional and energetic people for our academic naturalist seasonal position. Come to Orange County, CA and help us mold young minds and have fun too as we teach common core science standards to students. Our coverage in science goes over the field of life science, physical science and earth science. These include conducting experiments, using our telescopes, digging in our garden and excavating in the Lucy Lou Mine. Also give them a strong appreciation of the outdoors by facilitating hiking, archery, zip lining, rock climbing and even our challenge course. All training is provided and paid for. before schools arrive. Staff is required to work 5 full days a week (normally Mon.-Fri.). Chaperoning at night is a requirement as well.
We are looking for staff to join our team through June. The starting pay is $400/ week. The position amenities includes dorm style housing (rent free), a common room with two refrigerators, WiFi, satellite TV and kitchenette. All meals provided to students will be provided to naturalists. This is a residential camp position.
