John B. Kilroy, Jr. was elected to serve as our Chairman of the Board in February 2013 and has been our President, CEO and a director since our incorporation in September 1996. Having led its private predecessor, Kilroy Industries, in a similar capacity, he became its President in 1981 and was elected Chief Executive Officer in 1991. Mr. Kilroy has been involved in all aspects of commercial and industrial real estate development, construction, acquisition, sales, leasing, financing, and entitlement since 1967. Mr. Kilroy actively led the Company to be one of the premier landlords on the West Coast with one of the largest LEED portfolios, spanning some of the strongest markets in the country, from Seattle to San Diego. Mr. Kilroy serves on the board of governors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts, the Policy Advisory Board for the Fisher Center for Real Estate and Urban Economics at the University of California, Berkeley, and the board of New Majority Los Angeles. Mr. Kilroy previously served on the board of New Majority California. He is a past trustee of the El Segundo Employers Association, Viewpoint School, Jefferson Center for Character Education, and the National Fitness Foundation. He was also a member of the San Francisco America’s Cup Organizing Committee. Mr. Kilroy attended the University of Southern California.

Alan D. Gold has served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer since our formation in 2004. He served as Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of BioMed Realty's privately-held predecessor, Bernardo Property Advisors, Inc., since August 1998. Mr. Gold was a co-founder and served as President and a director of Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Inc., a publicly traded REIT specializing in acquiring and managing laboratory properties for lease to the life science industry, from its predecessor’s inception in 1994 until he resigned as President in August 1998 and as a director at the end of 1998. Mr. Gold served as managing partner of GoldStone Real Estate Finance and Investments, a partnership engaged in the real estate and mortgage business, from 1989 to 1994. He also served as Assistant Vice President of Commercial Real Estate for Northland Financial Company, a full service commercial property mortgage banker, from 1989 to 1990 and as Real Estate Investment Officer – Commercial Real Estate for John Burnham Company, a regional full service real estate company, from 1985 to 1989. Mr. Gold currently serves on the board of directors of CatchMark Timber Trust, Inc., a publicly traded REIT focused on timberland ownership, and as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Salk Institute for Biological Studies. He previously served on the board of directors of American Assets Trust, Inc., a publicly traded REIT, from 2011 to 2013. Mr. Gold received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and his Master of Business Administration from San Diego State University.

John Petersen is an Interim President and CEO and Chief Operating Officer at PS BUSINESS PARKS INC/CA and is based in Los Angeles, California. He has worked as SVP at Spieker Properties. John studied at The Colorado College between 1982 and 1986.
