    The Patient Contact Center answers and routes all incoming calls for the company. You will be responsible for answering high-volume incoming calls to service a variety of patient requests, such as schedule appointment and update medical and demographic information; additionally, perform outbound calls to patients as needed for rescheduling. The position may require occasional early evenings and Saturdays. Duties and Responsibilities Answer all incoming calls and expedite as quick and efficiently as possible. Create an Exceptional Experience for all patients. Speak with all new and established patients and schedules office appointments via phone. Using the telephone and computerized appointment scheduling program, schedule all patient appointments, according to physician-specified protocols. Inform patients of the information needed by the registration team; provide patients several scheduling options. Retrieve messages from voice mail system from patients who wish to schedule appointments. Prospectively inform all new and established patients about the practices payment at the time of service policy, and ensure understanding to arrive with referral forms, x-rays, etc. Use electronic medical records to document patient charts and relay patient questions/concerns to the appropriate provider/person. Refer all new patients to patient portal when possible and mail new patient packet as needed. Re-schedule patients as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality. Attend team efficiency meeting with supported providers and their teams. Communicate with providers as needed. Complete all other duties assigned by Team Lead/ Supervisor, Practice Manager, or Administrator. Qualifications Requirements and Qualifications Associates degree preferred; HS diploma or GED required. 2+ in a customer service role; 1+ years medical office experience preferred. EMR experience preferred. Physical Demands Position requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Involves standing, sitting, and walking. Team member will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 10 pounds; normal visual acuity and hearing are required. Provides accurate, detailed information to patients regarding test preparations, and confirms patients' scheduled time of arrival for test or procedure. * Takes appropriate action in responding to questions from patients. * Checks insurance eligibility * Contacts insurance companies to obtain benefits and prior authorizations, if needed, as required by patients' insurance plan, within 72 hours of scheduled procedure. * Scans surgical packets and all other relevant documents (medical/cardiac clearances, bloodwork, EKG, etc.) into the patient's EMR. * Contacts appropriate vendors to ensure all equipment will be on site for office and hospital based procedures, including confirmation of attendance by contracted anesthesia groups if required for procedure or test. * Collaborates with appropriate hospital/ASC staff to ensure a cohesive working relationship for continuity in providing patient care services. * Schedules post-op follow-up as needed and provides any other directional information. * Reviews provider's schedule for accuracy, and reschedules appointments as needed. * Completes requests for medical records or information following HIPAA guidelines. * Other job duties as assigned. SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Conduct a comprehensive review to determine eligibility for Medicaid and Managed Care for the 820 Programs • Daily Review of consumers' insurance verification and Medicaid Managed Care coverage • Communicate with consumers regarding insurance coverage, restrictions, and disenrollment (Medicaid/Managed Care, and Medicare) • Process Medicaid applications and recertifications for potential consumers through the Local Department of Social Services or the NY State Exchange/Marketplace • Investigate Medicaid issues related to eligibility, deferrals, denials and recertifications • Identify consumers with Medical and Pharmacy restrictions to complete MAP forms to the removal of restrictions • Process restrictions through the Managed Care System (MCS), Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) • Resolve problematic Medicaid Managed Care and Department of Social Services issues • Navigate eMedNY (ePACES) / Managed Care Portals / Inovalon / STARS / AWARDS • Daily Data Entry of Medicaid Managed Care / Medicare / Private Insurance / MAT in AWARDS and E-Lab • Prepare weekly status of consumers' Medicaid Managed Care / Medicare / Private Insurance status and Expedite consumers with straight Medicaid coverage • Review weekly consumers' Medicaid Managed Care coverage and dropped coverage • Prepare biweekly Medicaid Manage Care Reports to reflect current coverage • Assist consumers with the selection of Managed Care and NY State Market Place • Performs related or similar duties assigned by Director.
