The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for proficiency in all areas of a specialty retail farm and ranch store. The Assistant Store Manager serves as the second in charge of operations to the Store Manager. Duties include delivering a Legendary Customer Experience, providing leadership and direction to the store team, and performing operational activities throughout the store. The Assistant Store Manager is also responsible for promoting a safe and productive work environment for all Team Members, customers, and vendors, as well as training Team Members on the appropriate application of policies and procedures.

The Assistant Store Manager is required to perform a combination of the following duties during 95 percent of their day. Although the mix may vary from one day to another, our business and staffing model makes it essential that every person in this position be able to perform all of the following duties accurately, efficiently and safely on a regular basis and without advance notice:
Assist Store Manager in Store Operations including: driving sales and profit, customer loyalty, planning, prioritization, and delegating of daily tasks.
Support Store Manager in Team Member counseling, hiring/staffing decisions, scheduling, Team Member training including product knowledge development, appropriate application of policies and procedures and encouragement of continuous learning, and maintaining a productive work environment.
Perform Opening/Closing procedures.
Transport and make deposits to the bank.
Resolve customer complaints/issues and ensure the customer has a positive shopping experience.
Ensure the customer has a Legendary shopping experience that differentiates from the competition.
Champion the Customer Experience in the store and execute the role of the GURA Sales Leader.
Lead freight movement, and support merchandising initiatives, feed management, and inventory control.
Operate cash register/computer.
Supervise cash handling procedures.
Adhere to loss prevention standards and respond to any alarm calls as needed.
Operate Forklift and Baler.
Ensure the safety and well-being of birds. Sanitize and maintain poultry holding tanks and care for birds as required.
Assist customers with loading purchases.
Complete all documentation associated with any of the above job duties.
Obtain license or certifications as needed by the business.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Previous retail leadership experience is required. Farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge is strongly preferred. Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver's license.
Education
: High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Regardless of education level, you must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve issues ethically and with minimal conflict.
Working Conditions
Working environment is favorable, generally working inside with moderate noise.
Indoor floors and outdoor lots generally are hard surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.) lighting and temperature are adequate.
Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
Work shifts vary from one store to another, but generally are no less than 4 hours and may exceed 8 hours
Promote a safe and productive work environment for Team Members and customers and adhere to Company safety training and guidelines
Physical Requirements
This position is non-sedentary.
It is essential that Team Members have the physical and mental stamina and ability to move throughout the store and outdoor areas quickly and safely.
It is essential to operate all equipment related to their job duties efficiently, safely, properly and accurately; and to provide the highest level of customer service.
Team members must have the physical and mental ability to perform all of the following tasks (with or without reasonable accommodation):
Ability to move and transfer merchandise, weighing up to 50 pounds, throughout the store.
Ability to push and pull merchandise up to 2,000 pounds with the assistance of proper MHE (e.g. pallet jack, forklift, etc.)

Ability to frequently stand, kneel, twist, crouch, squat, bend, stoop, and climb ladders for up to 12 hours.

**Required Qualifications**

_Education_ : High school diploma or the equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred. Regardless of education level, you must be able to read, write, and count accurately.

General Summary
The Floor Supervisor will assist with managing overall store operations and assume primary responsibility for store operations in the absence of the General Manager and/or Assistant Managers. The Assistant Manager, Operations manages overall store operations and the achievement of company goals and directives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service
Provide positive representation of Westlake Ace Hardware.
Proactively assist customers in solving problems.
Greet customers entering and throughout the store. Thank customers when finished and when they are leaving the store.
Provide a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
Ensure all calls and pages are answered promptly, courteously and effectively.
Handle customer complaints. Work to resolve problems with the customer and have Westlakes best interest taken into consideration.
Possess excellent product knowledge and knowledge of store layout and location of products.
Store Operations
Ensure a positive, professional and safe work environment for all associates.
Supervise the general operations of the entire store.
Responsible for opening and closing the store.
Assist with the implementation of Store Support Center programs.
Ensure successful Loss Prevention, Safety and Internal Audits.
Work with General Manager and Assistant Manager Merchandising on all aspects of running the store.
Participate in weekly management staff meetings.
Communicate issues to the appropriate Store Support Center department with General Manager approval.
Assist with special projects within the district as set forth by the District Manager.
Implement new Standard Operating Procedures into store execution.
Assist with daily maintenance, orderliness and cleanliness of the sales floor, stock room and outdoor merchandise areas.
Ensure that weekly price changes and label updates are completed timely and accurately.
Oversee all cashiering functions including training, maintenance, audits, and reports.
Manage and direct preventative maintenance and repairs in order to maximize and protect all physical assets (i.e. building, fixtures and equipment).
Visit competition to be familiar with what they are doing.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Inventory & Merchandising
Assist to ensure forklift operations and receiving is completed in a safe and efficient way.
Assist to ensure receiving, checking in and stocking of merchandise adheres to best practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
Responsible for maintenance of back stock levels.
Assist to ensure that cycle counts and negative on hand reports are completed timely and accurately.
Assist in ordering and maintaining desirable product inventory levels to ensure in-stocks and store profitability.
Assist with merchandise resets throughout the store.
Assist to ensure all signage is current in the store.
Assist in presenting a clean and orderly sales floor, including end caps and promotional and incremental merchandising.
Hiring & Training of Associates
Assist in training of all associates.
Actively recruit and promote the advancement of Westlake Ace associates.
Assist in hiring, training, scheduling, reviewing, rewarding and coaching Head Cashiers and Cashiers with the approval of the General Manager.
Leadership
Manage all aspects of store operations in the absence of the General Manager.
Lead by example; be approachable by all associates and customers.
Participate in store meetings.
Communicate any merchandising, cost control or sales idea to the General Manager for follow up.

Role and Responsibilities
Assistant Managers are responsible for running the store when the General Manager is off. It is the Assistant Manager's responsibility to ensure excellent guest service as well as excellent quality products. An Assistant Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Prepping and preparing product
Ensuring quality service and product
Enforcement of company policies and procedures
Supervising a crew of 2 to 10 people
Assisting the General Manager with the completion of some paperwork including the Daily Plan and Control Log.
