The Guidance Center has grown from its modest beginnings of providing counseling services from a house in 1962 with a budget of $38,949, to a service with multiple office locations serving more than 5,000 people per year with a budget of over $12,000,000.
In 1962, the Mental Health Association of Los Angeles County and a group of caring visionaries opened the doors of the San Fernando Valley Child Guidance Clinic our former name (a community mental health Center) to a waiting list of several hundred children and a professional staff of three.
In the spring of 1965, the Center applied for a grant under the Community Mental Health Act.
In 1982, the Center received the newly instituted Block Grant Funds from the Division of Mental Health and Hospitals.
Shortly thereafter, Array Behavioral Care was founded in 2008 after providing services for over a decade as a component of Center for Family Guidance, PC and its partner companies CFG Health Systems, LLC and CFG Health Network.
In 2009, the Center provided services to over 1,200 families in the Antelope Valley region.
