Job Responsibilities:
As a Child & Adolescent Clinician with Family Services, you'll have the opportunity to work with individuals in the following ways.
Provide diagnostic evaluations and develop tailored treatment plans for children, adolescents, and their families, focusing on both individual and family therapy as needed.
Engage with external stakeholders such as school staff, medical professionals, and case managers to coordinate holistic care for clients.
Assist with the pre-intake, intake, and screening of new clients into the system and providing information on their psycho-social history.
Create youth centered treatment plans for clients, modify on an ongoing basis in reflection of their progress in therapy and prepare them for the completion of their treatment.
Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining case records, documenting all clients' contacts, and meeting deadlines, responding to outside agency queries regarding client information.
Develop and implement follow-up studies to determine program effectiveness.
Coordinate with appropriate parties on client's treatment (i.e., schools, Social Services, case managers, probation department).

Function: This position is co-located at the People USA Stabilization Center and acts as a core member of an interdisciplinary stabilization team for community members who are seeking crisis support. Job Responsibilities:
Provide short-term trauma therapy (individual and/or group) to adult and child victims of crime, including assessment of client mental health needs, provision of brief social work case management, and referrals and linkages to appropriate internal resources at the Center for Victim Safety and Support (CVSS) and external community resources.
Work collaboratively with other treatment providers internally and externally to ensure client-centered, trauma informed, holistic approach to each individual client mental health care.
Formulate treatment plans for individual clients and modify treatment plans on an on-going basis to reflect the client's needs around victimization.
Provide continuity of care and develop appropriate aftercare plans.
Maintain and grow professional relationships with agency and community partners including internal and external social workers and mental health counselors.
Complete all administrative tasks as assigned on a timely basis, this includes, but is not limited to, documentation of daily activities, client related case notes, and biopsychosocial assessment.
Assist with fundraisers and special events (some may be outside agency hours of operation).
Other duties as assigned based on program need.
Other Requirements:
Complete and maintain training certification as NYS DOH Rape Crisis Counselor.
Complete mandated reporter training; Report any behavior or implication of behavior of child abuse to the appropriate authorities.
Must be able to travel to and from various work locations within Dutchess County, if client need arises. Locations include Family Services, local courts, hospitals, police departments, social services, and other community-based settings.
Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of email and Microsoft programs Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Established cell phone, with effective coverage for the Dutchess County area.

Competencies:
Mental health counseling and social work professional training and/or willingness to learn and understand the symptoms and dynamics of trauma, dissociation, revictimization, vicarious trauma, and evidence based best practices in providing trauma informed care.
Knowledgeable around domestic violence, sexual assault, and other crime victimization.
Knowledge or experience working within the mental health and social work fields and working with individuals of various ages and demographics preferred.
Adherence and compliance with ethical standards as a mental health counselor or social worker in accordance with national and state professional associations and with our agency policies.
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Work Environment - This position is in the annex building of the Family Partnership Center in Poughkeepsie, NY. As a mental health counselor or social worker, the Trauma Therapist will split their time between sessions with clients, completing documentation, administrative responsibilities and participating in internal agency meetings.
