    Supervises, and works with line personnel while ensuring safe work practices in connection with construction, maintenance, and repair of the electric system. A foreman must already understand and be able to perform the required functions of ALL classifications below the foreman position. Work involves moderate physical exertion, heavy lifting, and exposure to inclement weather, as well as the hazardous conditions of working with high voltage energized lines and equipment. This is a working foreman position. JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Must possess a minimum of five (7) years of experience performing overhead electric line construction. Must possess, and maintain a valid class A CDL and DOT medical card, and be able to remain insured as a driver by the group liability policy for the fleet. Must be able to work from elevated heights utilizing various methods, to include, but not limited to, bucket trucks and pole climbing tools. Must be able to physically perform all assigned tasks. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess at a minimum, a high school diploma, or its equivalent. JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES Capable of leading crew members in all aspects of electrical work. Must be able to prepare, and conduct a pre-job briefing and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), identifying all potential hazards associated with a task, to include the mitigating factors, as well as compose a concise work plan that identifies step-by-step safe work procedures pertaining to the task at hand. Must be able to interpret maps, specifications, staking sheets, and complex diagrams. Possess ability to troubleshoot various trouble in primary and secondary systems. Will assist in the training of apprentice linemen. Ability to perform all line work according to safety standards and regulations. Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays, and be available 24/7 to address unplanned outages or activities. Must possess good judgment, safe work methods, and ability to work well with diverse groups of people. Must be willing to work away from home, for potentially long periods of time, as required, to include storm restoration. SUBSTANCE ABUSE TESTING This position is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) drug and alcohol testing.     PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Foreman supervises and works alongside a crew of employees and subcontractors when needed to efficiently manage assigned projects or operations. Position has direct responsibility for personnel, equipment, planning and scheduling, safety, quality workmanship and completion of projects in a timely manner and within estimated budget while maintaining absolute confidentiality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1.) See that new personnel receive proper orientation to acquaint them with company policies, safety requirements and job responsibilities. 2.) Assist and direct crews in proper use of equipment, improving job performance, controlling cost and quality of work, increasing productivity, improving communication and housekeeping on project. 3.) Perform equipment inspections, request maintenance and repairs as needed. 4.) Monitor drivers and maintain regular work hours. Maintain daily payroll records and log hours worked for each employee assigned to you. 5.) Maintain daily diary, recording conversations, weather conditions and events which could be used for future reference. 6.) Complete all required daily reports, verify their accuracy and transmit promptly to the superintendent. 7.) Ensure all work complies with local laws, ordinances and EPA regulations. This includes all subcontractors working on your project. 8.) Ensure all work is performed with emphasis on safety. Insist upon compliance of all safety regulations. Conduct weekly tool box meetings with safety on the agenda. 9.) Maintain good relations with general public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image. Develop a courteous and considerate attitude toward these groups. 10.) Encourage the development of corporate unity, insuring team spirit and pride throughout the company. 11.) Perform additional duties as required in the operations of the plant or as directed by the Superintendent and/or Project Manager. 12.) Some travel may be possible. 13.) Regular and predictable attendance. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Must be a minimum of 21 years old. Minimum Experience: 5 years related experience in storm drain and water/sewer Ability to communicate problems based on the many variables of the project. Experience with DOT projects a plus Ability to provide a crew is also a plus. Prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once. Must be able to manage any project assigned. Rate of pay depending on experience Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current/Valid North Carolina Driver's License Suitable Motor Vehicle Driving Record (MVR) - as described in the Corporate Safety & Health Manual Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort required, lifting or moving average weight material (typically over 25 pounds) or occasional lifting or moving heavy weight materials (over 60 pounds).
