Does the leadership team provide a clear direction for Gear Up Sports?
There are plenty of interesting people to meet in the job, however the good ones often end up getting fired, illegally might I add. There's also plenty of food based events and fun things like summer parties. That's about it.
Many times employees were put down for their work because someone was doing ever so slightly better than them. People were also getting fired illegally as I stated in the previous question. The company refuses to help people move up in the company and often shoves people back in the position they were hired into even if they have the full requirements for the position they applied for. Raises were very rarely given out and when employees asked for them they were often told to wait till the next year and maybe they'd hear something about it. HR rarely offered any help to struggling employees as well. Often times when asking for help regarding something with one's manager they were told to just deal with it and maybe you could try talking to them again. There was one HR rep that tired their best to help but was often shot down themselves and could do nothing other than tell people to hang in there and they would continue fighting for them. There were many times that talking to other managers was more helpful than talking to your own or to HR and while that's not the worst thing, it was the only way to get anything down a majority of the time. An employee should feel comfortable enough to talk to their own manager but this simply was not the kind of environment that was provided. There was also no way to solve disagreements between two employees. Employees would get into arguments and were told to figure it out amongst themselves which resulted in one getting told to shut up and deal with it. An example being how two men in production would play highly offensive music with racial slurs and when told by employees, supervisors, management, and HR to turn said music off they would throw a fit and go off on loud rambles about how everyone needed to shut up and stop being so sensitive. There are many other problems but here are just a few that were incredibly upsetting and important for someone who wishes to work here should consider.
The free food was nice.
My personal advice would be to not apply.
Management needs to talk a massive step back and realize that it would be better for them to just step down. They don't offer much support, they don't seem to care about anyone working there despite trying to convey otherwise, they refuse to resolve major issues within the company, and they have no problem cutting off people by any means necessary.
My supervisor and assistant manager were amazing people. They truly did all they could to help me grow and to not lose faith in the job. I mean it when I say the only reason I didn't quit was due to help and they encouragement. They fought for me and showed me that they cared every single day.
