GCASA company history timeline

1976

Inspiration came to Seattle juvenile court judge David W. Soukup in 1976.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), a national volunteer movement, began in 1976.

1977

CASA was founded in 1977 by David Soukup, a Seattle judge who became concerned by how quickly decisions concerning the lives of abused and neglected children were being made when there was often a lack of detailed information.

1987

Together, they formed California CASA Association in 1987.

2000

In 2000, CASA was reorganized by an independent Board of Directors comprised of community, civic and business leaders.

2022
