Reporting to the Principal, KIPP teachers are responsible for delivering effective, high-quality, rigorous instruction in their content areas that produce unmatched results and student understanding. Teachers are also responsible for promoting a college-preparatory culture that assists our students on their journey to and through college. Teachers will perform additional duties, as necessary, to ensure that all KIPP students will learn and contribute to the school's overall community. Whatever it takes. No excuses.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Plan a program of study and unit/weekly/daily lessons that, aligned with the school's curriculum and that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students
Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and is developmentally appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with best practices, specific content knowledge, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved
Implement, by instruction and action, the region's philosophy of education, the KIPP Memphis curriculum, and instructional goals and objectives
Utilize diagnostic assessment tools to identify learning strengths and needs of every student, on a regular basis, for the purpose of intervention and/or acceleration toward academic and leadership standards
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to assure safety in the classroom and the school for all students
Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations
Assist the administrative team in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
Make provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes outside of the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms
Maintain professional relationships with colleagues

The primary teaching responsibilities of the Full-Time Pre-Kindergarten Co-Teacher include delivery of the Harding Academy Pre-Kindergarten academic and social-emotional curriculum, and other duties as assigned by Supervisory Team.
In order to achieve this, Harding Academy faculty work with their students, families, and colleagues across the following four domains.
Instructional
Employs a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels in the classroom.
Assists in developing curriculum reflects child development, creativity, and student abilities.

Utilizes a variety of classroom play based assessments and uses data in the classroom to develop lessons and instructional activities needed.

Teaching and Learning Environment
Creating a play-based learning environment that is a motivating and an age-appropriate setting with instructional resources that support classroom learning.
Seeks to actively know students' strengths and challenges and responds promptly and with care to parent concerns. Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
Utilizes school's online system to maintain an accurate and organized system for monitoring student progress and records.
Meets reporting deadlines and requirements and follows school-wide procedures for reporting grades.
Assists in preparing well-thought out and thorough conference reports and written documentation on student progress.
Assists in maintaining substitute plans and engages substitutes in advance when needed and when possible.
Assist in preparing the classroom environment each day including preparing classroom materials and equipment.
Greets and settles in students each morning and signs students in and out each day using attendance app.
Assists in coordinating the scheduling of special area classes with those teachers.
Supervises children at all times, including lunch and recess.
Demonstrates classroom management skills.
Professional Development
Demonstrates a willingness to learn, grow, and improve as an educator.
Continues to update knowledge of content area(s) taught, as well as instructional practices.
Engages in goal setting and review process with assigned administrator.
Attends and participates appropriately in full, divisional, and departmental/team faculty meetings.
Engages in classroom compliance with all DOE Pre-Kindergarten standards.
School Community
Maintains a positive attitude and approach.
Supports colleagues.
Represents the school in the larger community in a positive manner.
Assists with projects and school-wide initiatives.
Other work-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. Full time Pre-Kindergarten Teacher will also assist the Primary Division Director by coordinating and ordering library books for curricular topics, organizing, scheduling, and coordinating student birthday celebrations, ordering classroom snacks, and transporting and supervising children to and from special classes.
