RESPONSIBILITIES: Resident Companions provide one-on-one support and companionship to Health Center residents during transportation to and from off-site appointments. Duties include: Accompanying residents to appointments using RiverMead's transportation or other transportation arranged by the resident or family. Offering assistance with outerwear, such as coats and hats, before and after appointments. Ensuring resident comfort and safety throughout the duration of the trip. Communicating respectfully and clearly with residents, families, and healthcare providers. This is a per diem position. Shifts will be scheduled in advance but may occur at varying times during the week depending on appointment needs. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum six (6) months of experience working with, or around, the elderly population. CPR certification required (Certification can be obtained after employment begins) Takes oral and written instruction well. Demonstrated knowledge of appropriate skills for communicating with individuals of all ages, especially the geriatric population.
