As a Coach, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive training program for swimmers of all ages and skill levels. You will provide guidance, instruction, and support to athletes while fostering a positive and inclusive team environment. Qualifications Coaching Experience: 1-3 years previous coaching experience with a proven track record of success in developing swimmers at various levels. Industry Expertise: Deep understanding of swimming techniques, training principles, and competitive strategies. Bold Leadership: Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and inspire athletes. Collaboration: Excellent communication, oral and written, and interpersonal skills, with a heavy emphasis on listening. Certification: Current certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, AED and First Aid, and USA Swimming (or willingness to obtain upon hiring). Technical Excellence: Familiarity with Team Unify, Meet Management software, and USA Swimming rules (if applicable). Availability: Work flexible hours, required evenings and weekends. Responsibilities Exemplary Leadership: Conduct regular practice sessions and provide on-deck coaching. Team Player: Work closely with head coach and other coaches for consistent coaching and program implementation. Goal Setting: Guide and support swimmers in setting and achieving ambitious goals, implementing effective training plans for swimmers' improvement. Mentorship: Evaluate swimmers' progress and provide individualized feedback. Event Coordination: Assist in planning and coordinating home swim meets. Master Communicator: Communicate regularly with swimmers, parents, and club management. Ongoing Improvement: Stay updated with the latest coaching techniques and trends. Employee Excellence: Adhere to club policies, procedures, and safety guidelines. Physical Requirements/Environment Must be able to work in a wet environment with occasionally high noise levels. Must be able to move frequently through all areas of the pool deck. Your shifts include continuous engagement and interaction with swimmers and team members. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with occasional travel to team events. Daily duties include lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, spotting, remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, and moving for prolonged periods of time. The Assistant Coach instructs athletes in individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize individual and team success. This intends to give sufficient guidance to function. A coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment in cases not explicitly covered. The Assistant Coach supervises athletes and the assigned team and assumes authority over all athletes in the program when supervision and leadership are needed. Supervision Received: The Assistant Coach is responsible to the building principal and Head Coach. Duties and Responsibilities: Has a thorough knowledge of all the Athletic Policies endorsed by the Medford School District Board of Education and is responsible for its compliance. Knows Oregon School Activities Association rules and regulations and Southern Oregon Conference Guidelines; implements those consistently and is responsible for compliance. Understands the proper administrative line of command and refers to all requests or grievances through appropriate channels.
