Founded in 1975, the Gonzalez family of companies has strategically grown to become a major full service supplier in the automotive, aerospace, defense and communications electronics industries.
After his death in 1977, his sons Ric and Gary Gonzalez followed in their father’s footsteps and began working to diversify the company, following the emerging requirements of their customers to build the Gonzalez Design Group.
In 1978, Gonzalez Contract Services (GCS) was formed to meet that need, providing technical contingent labor for the Detroit automotive industry.
In 1980 Semi-Kinetics was formed to service the growing electronics industry in southern California.
She received her Ph.D. in United States history from Stanford University in 2005 and is a Ford Foundation Diversity Fellow.
Professor González is the author of Redeeming La Raza: Transborder Modernity, Race, Respectability, and Rights published by Oxford University Press in July 2018.
*2019 Liz Carpenter Award for Best Book on the History of Women, Texas State Historical Association.
*2019 Jim Parish Award for Documentation and Publication of Local and Regional History, Webb County Heritage Foundation.
*2019 Finalist, Weber-Clements Book Prize for Best Non-Fiction Book on Southwestern America, Clements Center for Southwest Studies and the Western History Association.
She graduated from California State University, Northridge in 2019 with a double major in Psychology and Chicana/o Studies.
González was interviewed for a PBS American Masters-affiliated project titled The Unladylike 2020 Documentary Series celebrating the Centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment and the 55th Anniversary of the Voting Rights Act.

As the Fall 2021 Public History Initiative Graduate Fellow and Co-Director of The History Center/Cornell University Oral History Fellowship, Lyrianne is thrilled to bring the skills she has gained from her past public history experience and guide undergraduates interested in the field.
Most recently, she was a 2021 Smithsonian Latino Museum Studies Program fellow, where she honed in on her Latinx Studies and Public History interests.
