Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, BSN preferred. Current Vermont RN license in good standing. Two-three years' experience in Emergency Nursing. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, required. TNCC, ENPC, and CEN preferred.
Other Requirements: Computer skills and familiarity with using an electronic medical record essential. Excellent customer services skills. Strong team player and ability to function autonomously
Requirements:
Essential Functions Of The Position:
Performs triage using the Emergency Severity Index, while considering both physical and psychosocial elements to determine the degree of urgency for treatment.
Maintains a strong understanding of the Incident Command Structure and can operate fluidly
within it, maintaining patient and facility safety during an internal or external crisis.
Collects current symptoms, as well as a detailed patient history and then consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient plans of care and treatment.
Manages basic life support needs, based upon GCFHH nursing standards and protocol.
Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records
electronic displays including but not limited to; Cardiac monitoring, EKG monitoring, respiratory ventilators, non-invasive positive pressure machines and high flow nasal cannula.
Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse
symptomatology within the GCFHH nursing standing orders in addition to notifying the Provider.
Records patients' vital signs and all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
Works directly under Providers, assisting them during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments
Prepares and administers medications and records medication administration appropriately, including scanning patient identification and medications.
Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the administration of medications by a licensed registered nurse.
Maintains proper supplies and appropriate medical equipment to care for patients.
Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs, self-administration of medication and rehabilitation, as well as provides referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow-up treatment.
Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent tasks in a timely manner.
Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.

In addition, we see higher level of care patients, including but not limited to those on BiPap, titratable drips, or with hemodynamic instability requiring more frequent interventions and monitoring. The PCU is a 24/7/365 service with 25 beds. The team includes hospital medicine, care management, physical therapy and respiratory collaborating together to provide the best patient care possible.

The Emergency Department also provides "safe rooms" specifically designed to care for patients who are experiencing violent behavior or suicidal ideation. The patient population includes patients of all ages, and care provided ranges from definitive treatment of non-urgent, urgent and emergent medical/surgical conditions to stabilization and transport of the critically ill or injured. Birthing Center nursing staff is available for consultation or to assist in the care of neonates, infants and obstetrical patients.

What You'll Do:
• Provide patient-centered care throughout the full perinatal spectrum: labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care
• Monitor labor progress, support vaginal and cesarean births, and respond to obstetric and neonatal emergencies
• Provide care for clean surgical cases within the unit
• Educate and support families with postpartum recovery and newborn care
• Collaborate closely with providers, pediatric teams, and anesthesiology
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in our EMR system

Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
Current RN license in Vermont
BLS certification
NRP (or obtained within 6 months of hire)
Preferred:
1+ year of acute care nursing experience
Experience in L&D, postpartum, newborn care, or surgical recovery
AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
STABLE certification
BSN (or actively enrolled in a BSN program)
OSHA CATEGORY
OSHA Category I - Tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues require use of techniques of Universal Precautions as evidenced with blood borne pathogens standards.

Compensation Disclosure in Accordance with Vermont Act 155
In compliance with Vermont Act 155, Brattleboro Memorial Hospital provides the compensation range for this position in good faith. The listed range represents the pay scale reasonably expected for a successful candidate based on factors such as relevant experience, education, internal equity, and market competitiveness. Final compensation will be determined during the hiring process.
