Grassroots Campaigns company history timeline

2003

Grassroots Campaigns was founded in December of 2003 with the goal of building support for progressive candidates, parties and causes through engaging everyday people in political action.

2004

By April 2004 Grassroots Campaigns had opened offices in 40 cities throughout the country.

By July 2004 they had over 2,000 staff knocking on doors and fund raising on behalf of the Democratic National Committee.

In October of 2004, Grassroots Campaigns joined forces with MoveOn.org in order to identify and activate Democratic voters.

2006

In 2006, Grassroots Campaigns again partnered with MoveOn.org to run Call for Change, one of the largest volunteer phonebanking efforts in American history.

2008

In 2008, Grassroots Campaigns advocated for pro-environment candidates who were running for office on behalf of the League of Conservation Voters.

During the 2008 election cycle, Grassroots Campaigns expanded and partnered with a number of organizations working to elect Barack Obama and other Democrats.

2012

Grassroots Campaigns ran nationwide voter mobilization effort in 2012 to re-elect President Obama and help other Democratic candidates get into office.

2016

Grassroots collectively knocked on over 1.3 million doors to get out the vote in 2016.
