Job Summary/Description: WTVG-TV, the #1 station and award-winning ABC affiliate in Toledo, Ohio, is seeking a dynamic storyteller who can creatively and concisely gather and give viewers factual information. The New York Times is seeking a video journalist to join a growing video team in New York focused on breaking news, live journalism and news video reporting. The video journalist will stay on top of the news of the day-sourcing video clips for news stories, editing footage that takes the viewer to the scene for ongoing stories, as well as scripting and editing text-on-screen packages for our site and off-platform. You will be responsible for setting up and monitoring live video feeds, and work in collaboration with the desks across the newsroom to identify, verify, edit and publish video material in a variety of formats. In this role, you will also pitch relevant, visual and compelling stories for day turns and longer reported packages. You are a strong editorial producer and are able to keep track of breaking news and ongoing stories. You can work under deadlines and thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. We're looking for a candidate who will relentlessly find the best video for a news story and has a track record of working on multiple projects at any given time. This is an in-office position, based in New York City and includes regular attendance in the office four days each week. There may be some flexibility to work remotely per your departmental guidance. While subject to change, currently the shift is Wednesday to Sunday. Ensure that all content on DenverFan.com is fresh and represents the high standards of 104.3 The Fan. The ideal candidate for this position demonstrates strong editorial skills and sound news judgment with experience reporting or writing for a print publication or online news outlet. This is a unique position that requires extreme flexibility, including work on weekends, evenings, etc. In addition, the position requires the flexibility and dependability to work additional hours during breaking news and other big sporting events. Works closely with the digital media team, sports and other departments to help make DenverFan.com a world class web site. What You Will Do: Primary job duties will include, but are not limited to: Produce written news content and features on Denver sports stories for station's website. Skills and Experience We Are Looking For: Bachelor's degree in communication/journalism with skills in the following areas: broadcast journalism, writing, computer and operational skills, related field, or equivalent. Experience working in a newsroom environment and/or experience writing for print or online news or sports site or blog. Prefer experience as a print reporter, copy editor and/or web editor. Exceptional sports writing skills including editing and grammar skills. Ability to edit, produce and create accurate, well presented content in a quick, timely manner. Must possess typing skills and computer input ability. Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new programs and HTML are required. Must enjoy working with computers and technology. Able to produce, gather, edit and update sports news content for DenverFan.com on a daily basis.
