Perform advanced skilled trades work as needed, including troubleshooting and repairing complex issues in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or masonry systems. Inspect buildings, equipment, and systems to identify needed repairs or improvements. Knowledge and Skills Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more skilled trades, such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, or welding. Experience operating and maintaining tools, machinery, and heavy equipment related to skilled trades. Strong knowledge of state and federal safety regulations, building codes, and OSHA standards. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED required, plus at least three (3) years of experience in one or more skilled trades. Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee's demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs. Licensure/Certifications Trade-related certifications (e.g., HVAC certification, journeyman electrician, plumbing license) are required if mandated by the trade.
