GroundMetrics lost our Cofounder and CTO, Dr. Andrew Dennis “Andy” Hibbs. Andy was a well known and respected figure in the low frequency electromagnetic community who was responsible for an extensive array of innovations, including the technology that forms the basis of GroundMetrics’ work. His energy, enthusiasm and love of learning created a legacy of achievement that motivates us every day in everything we do. To honor Andy, we do what he loved – pushing the boundaries of established knowledge to achieve new capabilities and executing our work with joy, discipline, erudition, ethics and skill. Dr. Hibbs was a leading scientist and industrialist in the low frequency electromagnetic sensing community. He was one of the founders of Quantum Magnetics (QM), a pioneer in aviation security technologies, which was acquired by InVision Technologies in 1998 and later by General Electric in 2004. Just prior to the acquisition of QM in 1998, he founded Quantum Applied Science and Research (QUASAR) to develop bioelectric sensing systems. More recently, Dr. Hibbs founded QUASAR’s sister company QUASAR Federal Systems in order to expand the development of low noise sensors into additional fields. Dr. Hibbs held a PhD in Physics from Cambridge University, is the inventor on 12 patents plus a number of pending patents, authored numerous publications and chapters in physics text books and won a number of notable innovation awards including R&D 100 Awards (1992, 1995, 2010), Superconductor Weekly Person of the Year (1994), SBIR Technology of the year (1999), Connect Most Innovative New Product Award (1994), Technology Innovation of the Year Award from Aviation Week & Space Technology (1997), San Diego Electronics Industry Recognition Award from American Electronics Association (1997), Technology of the Year Award, Sensors Category, SBIR (1998), and the TR 100 Award from MIT Technology review (1999).

George Eiskamp has a successful track record commercializing new sensor systems. He began his career in business management and strategic marketing consulting at Bainbridge. He was one of the early employees of Awarepoint, where he led early stage sales, marketing and installation of active RFID location systems and helped the company win the 2005 Connect “Most Innovative New Product” Award and raise venture capital. Mr. Eiskamp later co-founded and ran CarCode Corporation where he brought the first portable license plate recognition system to market and licensed key technology from the University of California, San Diego Technology Transfer Office. CarCode was acquired by a major toll road management company in 2009. Later, at QUASAR Federal Systems, he led the productization of a new class of marine electromagnetic receivers for offshore oil exploration that won a 2010 R&D 100 Award. In 2011 and 2013 he raised two rounds of financing from the Tech Coast Angels (TCA), the largest angel group in the United States, and set fundraising records with the TCA in the process. In 2012 he led efforts that won the Gold award at the World’s Best Technology competition and second place at the San Diego Venture Group business plan and quick pitch competition. George holds a Master’s of Pacific International Affairs from the University of California, San Diego.
