Guaranty Abstract company history timeline
On January 20, 1908, shortly after Oklahoma became a state, the firm of Lawson & Wright opened an abstract office in Guymon, Texas County, Oklahoma.
On the night of January 6, 1911, the first Texas County Courthouse burned and 19 books in the Register of Deeds Office were destroyed along with the tract index and the grantee and grantor index.
On April 1, 1913, J.E. Mitchell sold his interest in the business to Albert F. Burch and the firm became known as Faris & Burch.
Guaranty is an Illinois business corporation, and has been in continuous operation since 1947 when it was incorporated by Attorney F. Ritchie Gibbons, Loraine Gibbons, Donald Hartnett, and Ruth Hartnett.
On January 6, 1960, the company was incorporated as Guaranty Abstract & Title Company of Guymon, Oklahoma, and continues to this day.
In 1973, Guaranty moved to larger quarters at 113 Purcell Street in the same building.
When Madison County decided to build a new administration building at that location in 1985, Guaranty moved to even larger quarters in its present location at 220 St Louis Street.
