Job Description: Applies mechanical engineering principles to support, and maintain, L3Harris FOS product lines during design, development, and production. This role supports design, development, and testing of new products; interacting with a multidisciplinary design team and working within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications. Essential Functions: + Act as lead mechanical engineer on various programs holding the responsibility for ensuring the designs and product performance meet customer specifications. + Apply mechanical engineering principles to generate new designs, or modify existing designs, in accordance with company design guidelines and procedures. + Apply configuration management principles to design documentation and technical data packages. + Generate, modify, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, compliance matrices, etc. in accordance with industry, company, and customer requirements. + Collaborate with engineering analysts to conduct finite element analysis on new designs showing compliance to internal guidelines, DoD requirements and customers' specifications. + Participate in failure investigations, where appropriate, related to design, production build processes, and customer returns. + Prepare materials for internal and customer design reviews, and effectively present material to design review teams. + Devise design verification test sequences to demonstrate compliance with specified performance environments (temperature, vibration, shock, acceleration, etc). In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience. + Professional experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX etc. + Professional experience with GD&T application and interpretation. + Professional experience with dimensional stack-up/tolerance analysis. + Professional experience with manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability (DFMA). + Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance. Job Description Job Summary: Help invent the future of flight, lift people up, and bring them home safely as a GE Aerospace intern or co-op! You'll build professional and technical skills in an aerospace systems & defense role working on challenging, real-world problems to design aerospace systems for commercial and military applications & support through service life. You will gain broad exposure to the engineering field with an array of opportunities ranging from design & analysis to working hands-on with aerospace systems. Essential Responsibilities: An Aerospace Systems & Defense intern/co-op may experience work in the development of engine controls, navigation, & guidance systems; gas turbine engine components; electrical power systems; mechanical systems; vehicle health & data management systems; mission systems; computing systems; and platform systems integration. Responsibilities may include design, analysis, development, and testing, writing software requirements, software testing, simulation, tool development and product/program support. Qualifications/Requirements: * Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA off a 4.0 scale without rounding. * Attending a full time matriculated and nationally accredited baccalaureate or graduate program in engineering (degrees accepted: Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering). * Willingness and ability to work in the United States; primary locations are: Dayton, OH. * Reliable transportation, many of our sites do not have public transportation available. Eligibility Requirements: Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screen. Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. The Aerospace Engineer will work with the Installation Aerodynamics team to perform aerodynamic design and optimization of inlets, nacelles, and exhaust systems, as well as related aerodynamic components. In this role you will coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including airframers, global partners, leadership staff, and the broader installation aero team to provide aerodynamic performance assessments of aerodynamic engine components and commercial aviation propulsion systems. Essential Responsibilities As the Aerospace Engineer, you will: * Execute, with guidance from senior engineering resources, aerodynamic analysis, design, test, and integration functions required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and program / product requirements * Prepare and present technical information to internal and external customers * Perform computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis including geometry modification & meshing * Use, develop, and test in-house engineering tools to perform aerodynamic evaluations * Set up and execute test programs achieving test objectives within schedule and budget guidelines * Document and communicate aero design, analysis, and test data results * Share engineering information, lessons learned, and promote open dialogue * Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures Qualifications/Requirements * Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience * Master of Science degree from an accredited university or college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline * Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
