Job Description: Applies mechanical engineering principles to support, and maintain, L3Harris FOS product lines during design, development, and production. This role supports design, development, and testing of new products; interacting with a multidisciplinary design team and working within established design guidelines to ensure products meet or exceed customer specifications. Essential Functions: + Act as lead mechanical engineer on various programs holding the responsibility for ensuring the designs and product performance meet customer specifications. + Apply mechanical engineering principles to generate new designs, or modify existing designs, in accordance with company design guidelines and procedures. + Apply configuration management principles to design documentation and technical data packages. + Generate, modify, and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, compliance matrices, etc. in accordance with industry, company, and customer requirements. + Collaborate with engineering analysts to conduct finite element analysis on new designs showing compliance to internal guidelines, DoD requirements and customers' specifications. + Participate in failure investigations, where appropriate, related to design, production build processes, and customer returns. + Prepare materials for internal and customer design reviews, and effectively present material to design review teams. + Devise design verification test sequences to demonstrate compliance with specified performance environments (temperature, vibration, shock, acceleration, etc). Graduate degree and a minimum of 2 years prior relevant work. In lieu of a degree, minimum 8 years of prior related experience. + Professional experience with CAD software such as Solid Edge, SolidWorks, NX etc. + Professional experience with GD&T application and interpretation. + Professional experience with dimensional stack-up/tolerance analysis. + Professional experience with manufacturing methods and design for manufacturability (DFMA). + Must be able to obtain a US Security Clearance. Preferred Additional Skills: + Proficient knowledge of physics, engineering mechanics, fatigue, and mechanics of materials. + Proficient knowledge of thermodynamics and heat transfer. + Proficient knowledge of dynamics and vibration (time and frequency domains). + Knowledgeable in DoD and MIL standards/specifications or other highly regulated industry. + Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality standards. + Knowledgeable in engineering materials and 3D printing. + Familiarity with finite element analysis tools and methods. + Knowledgeable in statistical analysis. + Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
