The hospital opened in 1970, largely through the efforts of local residents determined to have a hospital in their county.
In 1989 the voters of Harrison County approved the formation of a hospital district which had the ability to issue a tax levy to help support the community hospital.
The property was permanently transferred from the Noll Memorial Hospital Association to the Harrison County Hospital District on June 17, 1991.
HCCH began providing primary care on May 3, 2010, when the hospital acquired Bethany Medical Rural Health Clinic from Drs.
Senior Life Solutions, an innovative outpatient group counseling program for Medicare-age individuals, was established in 2012.
Primary care services expanded again in August 2013 when HCCH acquired the medical practice of longtime Bethany physician, Doctor Terry Hall.
July 2014 brought expansion beyond Bethany when the new North Harrison Medical Clinic in Eagleville began seeing patients.
