License/Certification: Certification as Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM). Staff members already certified at time of employment are grandfathered and it is acceptable to have either: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) formally known as International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management (IAHCSMM) or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD). Attend staff and faculty meetings (full-time faculty required and part-time requested). Participate in committees and knowledge sharing forums (full-time faculty required and part-time requested). Ensure the proper use of software (Course Key for attendance records, Campus Nexus for communication and contact attempts with students, Moodle for gradebook purposes.) Maintain any relevant licensures, certifications, and other required maintenance of paperwork for personnel file. Maintain a minimum of eight (8) hours of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) annually by participating in professional development and in-services (i.e., continuing education, professional activities, conference presentations, scholarly publications, etc.). Encourage students to submit course evaluations, review course evaluations when available, and use feedback to improve course delivery. Regular and reliable attendance. Comply with all governmental regulations and standards of accreditation. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Workload Expectations: Workload is dependent upon the faculty classification. Faculty will start and end on time for assigned courses and lab hours. Faculty must obtain prior approval from the Program Director if their assignment will require overtime.     Under the direct supervision of the Manager and the Coordinator/Charge Nurse, the Central Sterilization Technician is responsible for cleaning, assembling, disinfecting and sterilizing all equipment, supplies and/or instruments. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The Sterile Processing Technician must have a high school diploma or equivalent, possess at least one year experience in the OR or Central Sterilization. The Sterile Technician must have a basic understanding of aseptic technique, knowledge of sterilization principles, processing techniques and instrument/equipment care. The Tech must be certified in sterile processing by an accredited organization required by eighteen (18) months. The Sterile Technician must be able to adapt to a repetitive, short cycle operation, have some ability to operate large equipment, to disassemble and assemble instruments and possess some familiarity with surgical instrumentation. PHYSICAL GUIDELINES: Physical guidelines include the ability to move, traverse, position self, remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; light lifting, pulling or pushing of carts, equipment, etc. Must be able to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds, push and/or pull equipment up to 100 pounds.
