Position Overview:
Nursing faculty are responsible for engaging in the full scope of the academic nurse educator role. These responsibilities include facilitating learning and learner development; using assessment and evaluation strategies; participating in curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation; evaluating program outcomes; ongoing development of the nurse educator role; engaging in scholarship; developing and functioning as a leader and change agent; and functioning within the educational environment. This role must be fulfilled under the rules and regulations of the state and federal regulatory and accrediting bodies.

+ Implement a curriculum with clearly articulated program student learning outcomes (PSLOs), which are used to organize the curriculum, guide the delivery of instruction, direct learning activities, and evaluate student progress.
+ Designs and implements program assessments that promote continuous quality improvement of all aspects of the program.
+ Participates in professional development activities that increase socialization to and effectiveness of the faculty role.
+ Maintains the professional practice knowledge and expertise in areas of responsibility needed to help students prepare for contemporary nursing practice.

Position Requirements
+ Active, Current, Unencumbered Licensure: Applicable state as a Registered Nurse and per the State Board of Nursing
+ Education Qualifications: A minimum of a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree is required. BSN-prepared nurses may be considered depending on the campus' needs.
+ Experiential Qualifications: Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience as a Registered Nurse, and per the State Board of Nursing
Physical/Mental Demands and Work Environment:If performing nursing duties related to clinical instruction (especially patient contact) hazards may include needle sticks, blood and bodily fluid exposure, or any other hazard a Registered Nurse (RN) might be exposed to in the normal performance of nursing care. Position requires mental activity, reading, planning, preparing, evaluating, and decision making. Physical demands in the classroom and office are minimal and are considered sedentary work with occasional lifting and/or carrying such articles as records, files, and books (10 pounds maximum). Operation of standard office equipment such as phone, computer, classroom projector, Scantron, and printer/scanner occurs on a frequent basis. Physical demands in the clinical area may include lifting, pulling, pushing, kneeling, stooping, crouching, bending, or any other related activity to patient care. Position requires regular attendance, and may require evening or weekend hours, and travel to clinical sites and extended classrooms.

The ideal candidate will serve as a core faculty member in both the outpatient continuity clinic and the inpatient newborn nursery, contributing to the comprehensive education of Family Medicine residents and medical students. This role combines direct clinical teaching, scholarly engagement, and meaningful participation in residency program governance and development. The candidate is expected to maintain their own continuity patient panel and provide ongoing supervision in both ambulatory and inpatient settings. They will deliver didactic teaching during resident half-day education sessions and participate in structured academic activities that support resident development and program excellence.
Core responsibilities include:
Outpatient continuity clinic and urgent care teaching with residents and medical students, Monday through Friday from 08:00 to 17:00
Maintaining a personal panel of continuity patients
Supervising inpatient teaching rounds in the newborn nursery on a rotating basis every 4-5 weeks, Monday through Friday from 07:00 to 19:00
Participating in educational didactic half-days on Wednesdays from 13:00 to 17:00
Providing remote faculty supervision of residents for after-hours clinic call
Participating in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC), which assesses resident progression and advancement
Participating in the Program Evaluation Committee (PEC), which oversees curriculum development and program improvement
Completing written and verbal evaluations of residents and medical students
Supervising residents on the mobile health unit

The candidate must be eligible for hospital credentialing to provide inpatient newborn care. Inpatient obstetrics coverage is not required. However, if desired, there may be opportunities for occasional coverage of the adult inpatient teaching service. Education and Experienced Requirements:
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree, with successful completion of an ACGME- or AOA-accredited Family Medicine residency program, and possession of an unrestricted medical license issued by the Medical Board of California
Demonstrated experience in the comprehensive outpatient care of adults, geriatrics, children, and newborns, with recent and meaningful involvement in the teaching of residents and/or medical students
Clinical experience in the inpatient management of both adult and newborn patients.
Current board certification in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM)
Eligibility for privileges in full-spectrum outpatient primary care, as well as inpatient privileges in the care of newborns. If interested in adult inpatient care, the candidate must be eligible to obtain hospital privileges for adult inpatient medicine.

The Metabolism Program brings together cancer metabolism researchers studying diverse aspects of metabolic regulation, including aging, redox biology, diet, microenvironmental and macroenvironmental factors on metabolism from multiple Moffitt Departments and Divisions. As a newly accredited program leader, the Core Faculty member will collaborate with the program team to develop a robust outpatient-focused residency program to prepare a diverse group of residents to care for complex patients in urban community health center settings. Under the direction of the Program Director, the core faculty member will serve as clinical leader and resident mentor, assuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and patient care to the underserved safety-net population.
Core Faculty members dedicate 40% time to residency training and will provide full-scope primary care in the faculty/residency clinic 60% of the time. Core faculty will receive ongoing training on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to): (a) ACGME relevant policies and procedures, (b) evaluation and assessment of residents, (c) core competencies and milestones, (d) faculty development and (e) scholarly activity.

As a newly accredited program leader, the Core Faculty member will collaborate with the program team to develop a robust outpatient-focused residency program to prepare a diverse group of residents to care for complex patients in urban community health center settings. Under the direction of the Program Director, the core faculty member will serve as clinical leader and resident mentor, assuring the delivery of high-quality teaching and patient care to the underserved safety-net population.
Core Faculty members dedicate 40% time to residency training and will provide full-scope primary care in the faculty/residency clinic 60% of the time. Core faculty will receive ongoing training on a variety of topics, including (but not limited to): (a) ACGME relevant policies and procedures, (b) evaluation and assessment of residents, (c) core competencies and milestones, (d) faculty development and (e) scholarly activity.
This position is represented by UAPD. Salaries and benefits are set by a collective bargaining agreement (CBA), and an employee in this position must remain a member in good standing of UAPD, as defined in the CBA.
BENEFITS:
Compensation: $107.00 = $119.00 per hour depending on years since finishing residency, core-faculty stipend/year, .
JOB DUTIES:
Supervise Family Medicine residents in the residency/faculty family medicine clinic, following procedures for appropriate trainee levels of supervision and requirements for residency training (Supervision Policy) to ensure patient safety and high-quality care at all times. The ratio of residents to preceptors may not exceed 4:1.
Respect resident work hours, paying close attention to signs of Fatigue and Sleep Deprivation in individuals.
Be a role model in professionalism, self-care, team-based community health care, lifelong learning, and full scope outpatient family medicine practice.
Evaluate Family Medicine residents, using competency-based/milestone evaluations and via direct observation and other relevant evaluation methods.
Supervise Family Medicine Residents QA/QI and Research activities as required/appropriate
Mentor residents, advise them regarding their career and educational goals, and attending to their overall personal wellbeing.
Serve on relevant residency program committees as required by ACGME.
Participate in and coordinate regularly scheduled didactics (including, but not limited to: journal clubs, lectures, interdisciplinary conferences, workshops) as assigned by the PD
Demonstrate a commitment to scholarly work, both on your own and with residents.
Attend at least one national meeting such as AAFP Chief Resident Workshop, STFM, or other related meetings.
Complete the annual ACGME annual survey.
Do full scope primary care clinical work in the faculty/resident clinic of an average of 40% time, exact time allocation to be determined by PD
