Become the Nutrition Services Manager you always wanted to be
Manage Departmental budget as it relates to position.
Perform and document all purchasing, receiving, and inventory control of food and supplies.
Maintain proper sanitation, temperature, and food handling techniques to comply with regulations.
Determine quality, quantity and portion size of food required and ensure proper handling of food.
Ensure adequate staffing and management of the department's employees.
Ensure production for both patient meals and cafeteria line are properly coordinated.

Qualifications
Certified Dietary Manager or Dietetic Technician registration with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if required by state or regulatory agency.
Active membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, if mandated by state or regulatory agency.
Graduate of an associate degree program in food service preferred.
Must have thorough knowledge of nutrition and dietetics, administration, and operation of hospital food services, and knowledge of all H.A.C.C.P. guidelines.
Three years of supervisory experience in food service, preferably within healthcare.
Strong communication, analytical, decision-making, and independent work skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in collecting nutritional data for initial and periodic assessments, including dietary preferences, allergies, and feeding needs.
Support implementation of care plans by preparing charts, tracking nutrition-related goals, and assisting with progress monitoring.
Assist in the preparation and distribution of therapeutic and modified diets consistent with each participant's care plan and dietary orders.
Monitor food safety practices and sanitation procedures.
Maintain participant nutrition documentation, meal counts, and records as required for program compliance and audits.
Provide nutrition-related group education under the direction of the dietitian, consistent with the participant's functional level.
Report significant changes in food intake, weight, or physical status to the Registered Dietitian and interdisciplinary team.
Collaborate with kitchen staff and the food service vendor to ensure proper meal delivery, portion control, and therapeutic diet accuracy.
Assist in maintaining menus and verifying adherence to dietary guidelines, cultural considerations, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in interdisciplinary team (IDT) case conferences when needed to support nutrition-related goals and service delivery.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least two years of experience in a healthcare or nutrition setting (e.g., ADHC, skilled nursing, food service in elder care).
Coursework in nutrition, food science, or health preferred.
Licenses/Certificates:
Valid California Food Handler Card or ServSafe Certification (per Cal. Health & Safety Code §113947).
CPR and First Aid certification (preferred, may be required by employer).
Skills and Competencies
Basic understanding of therapeutic and modified diets (e.g., diabetic, low sodium, mechanical soft, puree).
Familiarity with Title 22 ADHC regulations, especially Section 54333 related to nutrition services.
Ability to communicate clearly with elderly or disabled adults, caregivers, and interdisciplinary staff.
Organizational skills to maintain accurate documentation and meet program deadlines.

Regulatory Reference

Working Conditions

Enrollment in or completion of: An approved Dietetic Technology Consortium Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND); OR an approved Nutrition or Dietetics Bachelor's Program at an accredited college or university through the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) within one year of hire date, must pass the national registration examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). Must complete continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration. Must have good interpersonal skills and a thorough understanding of special diets, either through coursework or on-the-job training. Certification as a Dietetic Technician, Registered (DTR) by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics within 1 year after accepting Tech-Dietetic position.

Description The Position: Dietetic TechnicianUnder the direction of the Center Director, the Dietetic Technician will be working with CEI's Registered Dietitians and have comprehensive knowledge of clinical nutrition, therapeutic diets, and Food Service Operations. This is a float position and travel to all sites as needed. GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Researches and collects data from participant's medical record and completes participant screenings for required participant assessments. Conducts sanitation and safety checks of the Center kitchens to ensure compliance with CEI Policies and Procedures. Audits diet cards that specify the participants' therapeutic diet and special dietary instructions for accuracy and adherence by staff serving meals to participants. As directed by registered dietitians or designee, provides nutrition education for participants, families, primary caregivers and/or day center staff within scope of practice. Conducts meal rounds with participants to assess for satisfaction and follows up with day center and/or nutrition staff with comments/concerns. Assists with meal service as needed and monitors stock in refrigerator, dry storage, and freezer storage. Orders nutritional supplements. Assists with completing Breakfast and Lunch Menus, Meal count order forms, Bag Lunch requests, and Day Center Activity Food requests. Communicates regularly with contracted food service vendor, food service companies and other vendors regarding CEI meal program. Communicates regularly with participants, caregivers, assisted living and skilled nursing facility staff regarding participant's nutritional needs. Develops and conducts food safety in-service trainings to Day Center staff. Maintains the confidentiality of all company procedures, results and information about participants or families. Follows all CEI Policies and Procedures. Complies with all agency training requirements Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Maintains safe working environment by following CEI's safety P&P's Maintains a courteous, helpful and professional attitude on the job. Displays a willingness and ability to be responsive to all customer groups. Performs other duties as assigned in a positive and helpful manner. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university in food science and nutrition or similar program and/or certified by the Commission of Dietetic Registration as a Nutrition Dietetic Technician, Registered. Experience: Prefer a minimum of 1-year experience in a health care facility Ability to establish and maintain effective communication with employees, clients and the public Ability to travel and report to work at all CEI locations as scheduled ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIRMENTS: Physical Requirements - Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing, walking, pushing, bending, kneeling and reaching at arm's length and overhead in clinic, rehab department and in community for prolonged periods of time. Requires the ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds and push or pull objects exceeding 150 pounds, using appropriate body mechanics. Visual, Hearing and Communication Requirements - requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Must be able to communicate verbally with participants their treatment plan, team members and participants caregivers. Pressure Factor - requires working under stressful conditions. Working conditions may be noisy and crowded and fluctuating indoor temperatures. Subject to participants that may have the potential for verbal or physical aggression. Environmental Conditions - May be exposed to a risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, bodily fluids, communicable diseases and any other conditions common in a clinic environment.
