What you will do: Performs general radiography. Properly positions patients in order to obtain desired diagnostic results, places protective lead shields on patients, and sets correct technical exposure. Demonstrates problem solving, conflict resolution, and positive communication through teamwork Minimum Qualifications: Associate's degree in Science or equivalent post-secondary education required. Must be a graduate of an accredited diagnostic radiography program. A.R.R.T. registered and current State license in radiography. Minimum of two (2) years of clinical internship and two (2) years of post-educational experience as a Radiologic Technologist. Requires a strong working knowledge of radiographic equipment. Work Shift Day (United States of America) Job Summary: Functions under the direction of the Chief Technologist and Vascular Institute Manager. The interventional special procedures technologist assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. The technologist has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. He/she is responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. The technologist is able to independently perform job functions. He/she sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. Able to perform procedures in both the IR, Vascular Hybrid and Neuro‐interventional setting. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions: Clinical Skills * Completion of VI competencies * Able to use critical thinking skills * Work in conjunction with radiologists/ vascular surgeons/ cardiologists * Preps the patient for procedure * Demonstrates and understands sterile technique * Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure * Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure(SIM CODES) Job Responsibilities * Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs * Able to work scheduled and On‐Call * Knows existing lines of communication and authority * Handles communications properly * Introduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting ie. AIDET * Transports patients as needed * Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers * Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement * Completes necessary paperwork * Answers departmental phone using proper scripting * Maintains stock levels and outdates * Maintain current License and BLS certifications * Assist in in service/training for other medical imaging staff as appropriate * Works as a team with other VI staff to obtain the best possible outcome * Performs any other duties as needed when asks by leadership Quality and Patient Safety * Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identification * Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker * Verifies Written Order and Consent, seeks clarification if order or consent unclear * Uses and understands preprocedural verification/ time out form * Understands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated Patient Education * Responsible for patient, family/support system education * Provide post procedural home care instructions as needed Performs other duties as assigned Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Required Required Minimum Skills: Able to function independently during procedures after appropriate orientation/competency on unit and as demonstrated by being place on call rotation. Competency in all aspects of interventional/vascular procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection. Required special/advanced procedure registry as outlined above. Must have an understanding of anatomy and pathology as well as how they affect the quality of a procedure. The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude.
